Steroids and Sports
Athletes, whether they are young or old, professional or amateur, are always looking to gain an advantage over their opponents. The desire for an "edge" exists in all sports, at all levels of play.

I think steroids shouldn't be taken, and there shouldn't be any exceptions except for ill people who need them for health reasons. What would the point of sports be if everyone was extremely good at it? There would be hardly any competition. |

Steroids should be legal because fans want to see better performance. For example on baseball fans want to see more homeruns. |

I think supplemental enhancements, such as steroids should be legal in order to create an equal and fair playing field between athletes. However, I don't think student athletes are at a high enough competitive level to worrying about the "edge" they have on other players. They should worry about developing themselves as athletes before they try enhancing their bodies by using steroids. And, trust me, the Pro athletes all know the risks by now. Or at least they should. If they're willing to take that gamble, then who am I to step up and try to protect them? . These athletes are grown men, and they should be able to make their own decisions for their bodies. It's my understanding that a large number of major league players -- perhaps the majority -- use steroids on a regular basis. I'm a high school baseball player myself, and I honestly don't feel the need to have that extra "edge" against other players, that's where competition and the want to get better comes into play. Pro's have been through it all and are looking to entertain and make a name for themselves. So would I, as a fan, be upset if a star player or a utility infielder used performance-enhancing drugs to help my team win a title? Heck no. My guess is that it happens all the time. |
