Good article, but the jury isn't out as yet !
My personal opinion is that everyone should eat a balanced diet. If you cannot get the required nutrition in one form (say vegetarians), then you should try and get it in another form (extra oils, beans, lentils, etc.).
Numerous studies have shown that if you eat a balanced diet (like the Mediterranean one), you tend to live longer and are prone to less diseases of the heart.
So why don't we?
Pure laziness, I say.
It is so much easier to walk into a supermarket and buy a readymade lasagne, than to take the trouble of buying mince, tomatoes, herbs, and pasta and making it ourselves!
Who worries about the preservatives used in the lasagne to keep it on the shelves for us? Who worries about the cheaper bits of meat used in the lasagne?
How many more people have to die of cancer before people will sit up and do something to change their health?
