M. Mikhailovich Please take note of the following facts of history. The Holy Orthodox Sees of Jerusalem, Antioch and Alexandria pre-date Rome. The oldest surviving monastery is St. Catherine's Orthodox Monastery in Sinai, Egypt. Inside the walls of this monastery exist some of the world's oldest iconography. Icons of Christ, His Mother and the saints and images of the Last Supper from the 3rd-8th centuries. These all pre-date Da Vinci or any other artist of the Renaissance period of Western Europe. Additionally at the time of Da Vinci more than half of the world's Christians lived in the Orthodox East whom as history bears witness had never been subject to the pope of Rome. Additionally it was the seven Holy Ecumenical Synod's of the East that produced the New Testament, and condemned eighty nine heresies. These were accomplished not by a Roman pontiff, but by Holy (Synods) Councils. Of the 1,189 bishops that attended all 7 Ecumenical Councils only 11 bishops were from the West.
Orthodox Christians find this Da Vinci Code movie to be nonsense and more Rome centered hyperbole. How could Rome cover up that which she did not produce? The Christian Church was born in the East and Rome had very little to do with it. Just look at the paltry 11 bishops that attended the Councils that produced the New Testament and central doctrines of the Christian Faith.

Pres Why must everyone cause conflict over this book? It is a novel, a story. Just like the bible is a story. Dan Brown may have said some things are accurate, and you may not agree with that. However, you must wonder how much research he has gone through? Probably quite a bit. To you his facts may not be accurate. But what if he was looking in different places, maybe he found new things. Maybe all I am saying doesnt affect you at all. But you must remember, that this is a story people. This is a story that really makes you think about everything. I believe people don't like it because of that. I believe that though not all of this story is true, it does really make you think about the truth. I guess I just wonder why everyone always have to make a big deal when someone may question the truth. Maybe Jesus was married? Why is it untrue if it isnt written down? Why should people believe someone because they follow the bible? Isnt that just another story? I am not bashing the bible at all. I am just wondering why people should have to question the Da Vinci code? but when they question the bible, that is looked at differently. you just think about sometimes eh? 5/18/2006
Xerratul Odin makes a point.. alil confusing but a point non the less...

if we believe in something strong enough then there is no need to defend it against the egnorence of others, for it is not effecting us directly thus not putting strain on our lives, we are told to try and understand instead of isolateing or pushing aside, ill let him have his word and his book is intresting, i will not judge him or his methods for i my self have not spent time with the man in question thus do not know enough to rule him out as a hoax or unorthadox person.
i take in all i can, i try to learn from everyone never discarding anyones way of thinking. dont let this mans book offend you, instead take it in and learn from its intresting view point, that how the litreture of the bible and the paintings and codes be translated in such a manner... it is not as vexing as it appears... if anything i learnt from this book that even if it is a hoax, that not all things appear to be as they are.. and that the world itself is one great big Masqurade. - Jonny M (xerratul)

ODIN who are we to question anything?..
waist your money on these silly books and your silly reasons.. if it makes you sleep better at night... pfft..
Let he who wishes to believe in spirits and demons believe.. let them who believe in godsand devils believe in them.. you have no right to enter there world and step on there gardens.. mind your own bussiness and stop trying to force your paranoid delusions on everyone else... The world has no owner no master.. it rules its self.. we force our way of life upon it.. thus it unleashes storms and tornadoes.. and tsunamies. we build our homes in those area we force our way of life upon the earth thats why we suffer and die... the same is society with people.. why cause trouble?.. why force epinions? chaos rules this world so dont try to control it... try as we may.. in the end.. the earth will win... so drop all this pettyness and lets try and work together to create a world where the world itself is in peace with us...?? to much to ask?.. or is everyone to scared of eachother to reachout and try to understand and love? one world one love.. because we hate the world hates.. and it wont stop till we learn to be in peace.. all it god call it mother earth.. i dont care all i know is i just wish this type of crap would not come up.. and we worried about the bigger picture...

William Perez Mr Ehrman is still using the Bible as his guide, perpetuating the "stories" of the Bible as bieng true. He is only confirming that the endoctrination of Christianity was a very successful venture and in my opinion, he is not open-minded enough to separate the facts from the fiction. 1/23/2005
Kent Jackson The Church has preached "faith" over study or research why change now? Christianity is NOT a search for truth. We follow the "truth" we have been given. Many may have discoverted "lies" so what? 1/21/2005
