Rej Douville Very informative article. How do you remove the old aluminum windows without having to remove the vinyl siding? Someone told me that you simply cut the window from the outside, but I have no room between the window and the C joint. I sure would like to replace my windows myself but cannot figure out how to remove the old window. 10/16/2009

i have aluminum windows in my 1982 built home with the new construction fins. I want to remove them and install new vinyl windows. can i do this with out removing the brick around the outside of the windows? if so how?		 10/9/2007
wes I have gone through article after article looking for the easiest way to completely remove aluminum window frames. I personally feel the job isn't done properly unless one removes the old corroded foul looking frames. After scanning dozens of articles I see all are the same.........leave the frames in it's much easier. No thanks I'll muck along and do the job learning as I go. This seems to be the best alternative to hiring contractors who are not craftsmen and how to people who don't answer the questions one poses.

john1r Brad, this article was about replacing the entire window. If you just have defective glass panes, you don't need to replace the entire window. Just call a local glass shop and get an estimate to have the dual panes replaced. Or, read my article on dual pane glass repair if you want to try and do it yourself. 6/3/2007

Edwina Hoyt I have an aluminum enclosed porch. The aluminum single pane
windows need to be replaced. I would like to have them replaced
with vinyl single pane since there is no space allowed for double
pane. Is there a place that I can still order from for single pane
