Bull Spotter JOHN - put the first 3 "all about me" paragraphs at the end under the heading "All About Me" so that readers can get right to the info/the meat! Man you are wordy. At the end of the article say something like "Instructional video available... click here". The first 3 paragraphs have NOTHING to do with choosing new construction or replacement windows. 10/1/2009
john trippe Great article that addresses a question that may seem moot to many people. Very clearly written. Thanks 2/1/2005
johnmr12 Well, without actually seeing your home, it's hard to make a 100% accurate assessment. But, if you have air infiltration issues around your windows, my best guess is that you will eliminate the problem with a good quality vinyl or wood replacement window. In my opinion, it's not necessary to rip everything out to expose the studs so you can install a new construction window. Not only is it a whole lot more work, but you are increasing the chances of creating new problems, such as water infiltration. If done properly, block or replacement frames should correct your problem with a lot less labor and structural damage. 1/30/2005
bandm@access995 i am wanting to replace all my double hung windows they are lousy my decision has been wood clad windows.not sure but i think we want to use new constructions window vs replacement windows that means cuting them back to the stud for new construction.for some reason i think i can resolve all the poor construction and air leakage that is present.
am i any where close to right

Wesley I like the idea that you are willing to show a non-professional how to do the work! 1/5/2005
