The Pepsi Story

The story of Pepsi since its birth in the 19th century. A tale of trials, tribulations and ultimately triumph. There was a time when Pepsi was to be sold to a company called Coca Cola.

George Barnet Herbert Barnet, CEO and president after Steele's death, is my grandfather. I was unhappy to see that he wasn't even mentioned before Kendall. 5/14/2005
Rachael It was ok 3/3/2005
Tonyr62 Hey Robert, what a small world we have out here. We sat at the same table at the party for Tom. It was indeed a pleasure to hear the many stories about Tom. 1/15/2005
Tonyr62 I forgot to add that if anyone wants a copy of the book they can request it at TonyR62@aol.com 1/15/2005
stuartmc Strange coincidence. There is a Thomas and Jeanne Elmezzi Foundation that my NPO is applying to for a grant. I'm sure it's the same Elmezzi. The irony is I worked for Pepsi many years ago and Tom was VP of Manufacturing. He was a regular guy with no pretentions and was apleasure to work for. 1/12/2005
Robert L. Mills Alfred Steele died in 1959. That is why management changes were made. Thomas Elmezzi, who isn't mentioned here, was offered the presidency by Herbert Barnet, but turned it down. Donald Kendall was second choice, and would not have become president without Elmezzi's approval. I co-authored Tom's biography, "The Man Who Kept the Secret," which is now in print (JET Foundation Press). 12/25/2004

Hvnsflnangel i liked it... I'm a very big fan of PEPSI and it was very neat to understand what the company has gone through to make it to where it is today. 12/24/2004
Tony If you are interested in the real Pepsi story from the time the chief chemist changed the formula let me know. The chief chemist at the time was Thomas Elmezzi and his auto biography was just completed after 3 years in the making. He decided to write his story to refute a lot of the myths that were going around and get the real story about Pepsi out before he died. I just had the pleasure of celebrating his 90th birthday with him in NYC where his book was unvailed for the first time and we are good friends. He is by far the most fascinating person I have ever known and I would be happy to send you a copy of the book for your reading if you are interested in the truth.

Tony
