| Annette | i've been trying to help my friend for yrs. His tough personality keeps blocking every move i've made. There's nothing weong with him he thinks. When something really bad happens like he spent the night ingaol the other night for breaking an AVO he can tell me what he did "I BROKE AN AVO" but there are no further details, its almost robotic like that he says it, Just that he's been told he broke an AVO and he's probably going to gaol for 2yrs for it. I'm the person he broke the AVO on, I know this man so very well, I'm the only one that has seen all his personas, one of them is slightly feminine, he likes to wear my clothes.. . I'm so worried for him, gaol is no place for a diagnosed multi, certainly no where for an un diagnosed one - I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO | 12/21/2011 |
| laser | Drugs and hypnosis are used to "repurpose" the "patient" into a personal atm for the psychotherapist. Drugs worsen the existing symptoms and create symptoms of their own. Hypnosis allows the basturd quack to more easily control the patient's sub/conscious mind. Many quacks rape their patients sexually, spiritually, emotionally, psychologically. Don't be a victim. Avoid these psychopaths like the evil plague they are. | 12/14/2011 |

| jikay | Multiple personality disorder (MPD) is a psychiatric disorder characterized by having at least one "alter" personality that controls behavior. The "alters" are said to occur spontaneously and involuntarily, and function more or less independently of each other. The unity of consciousness, by which we identify our selves, is said to be absent in MPD. Another symptom of MPD is significant amnesia which can't be explained by ordinary forgetfulness. In 1994, the American Psychiatric Association's DSM-IV replaced the designation of MPD with DID: dissociative identity disorder. The label may have changed, but the list of symptoms remained essentially the same. Memory and other aspects of consciousness are said to be divided up among "alters" in the MPD. The number of "alters" identified by various therapists ranges from several to tens to hundreds. There are even some reports of several thousand identities dwelling in one person. There does not seem to be any consensus among therapists as to what an "alter" is. Yet, there is general agreement that the cause of MPD is repressed memories of childhood sexual abuse. The evidence for this claim has been challenged, however, and there are very few reported cases of MPD afflicting children. Psychologist Nicholas P. Spanos argues that repressed memories of childhood abuse and multiple personality disorder are "rule-governed social constructions established, legitimated, and maintained through social interaction." In short, Spanos argues that most cases of MPD have been created by therapists with the cooperation of their patients and the rest of society. The experts have created both the disease and the cure. This does not mean that MPD does not exist, but that its origin and development are often, if not most often, explicable without the model of separate but permeable ego-states or "alters" arising out of the ashes of a destroyed "original self." A rather common view of MPD is given by philosopher Daniel Dennett. ...the evidence is now voluminous that there are not a handful or a hundred but thousands of cases of MPD diagnosed today, and it almost invariably owes its existence to prolonged early childhood abuse, usually sexual, and of sickening severity. Nicholas Humphrey and I investigated MPD several years ago ["Speaking for Our Selves: An Assessment of Multiple Personality Disorder," Raritan, 9, pp. 68-98] and found it to be a complex phenomenon that extends far beyond individual brains and the sufferers. These children have often been kept in such extraordinary terrifying and confusing circumstances that I am more amazed that they survive psychologically at all than I am that they manage to preserve themselves by a desperate redrawing of their boundaries. What they do, when confronted with overwhelming conflict and pain, is this: They "leave." They create a boundary so that the horror doesn't happen to them; it either happens to no one, or to some other self, better able to sustain its organization under such an onslaught--at least that's what they say they did, as best they recall. Dennett exhibits minimal skepticism about the truth of the MPD accounts, and focuses on how they can be explained metaphysically and biologically. For all his brilliant exploration of the concept of the self, the one perspective he doesn't seem to give much weight to is the one Spanos takes: that the self and the multiple selves of the MPD patient are social constructs, not needing a metaphysical or biological explanation so much as a social-psychological one. That is not to say that our biology is not a significant determining factor in the development of our ideas about selves, including our own self. It is to say, however, that before we go off worrying about how to metaphysically explain one or a hundred selves in one body, or one self in a hundred bodies, we might want to consider that a phenomenological analysis of behavior which takes that behavior at face value, or which attributes it to nothing but brain structure and biochemistry, may be missing the most significant element in the creation of the self: the sociocognitive context in which our ideas of self, disease, personality, memory, etc., emerge. Being a social construct does not make the self any less real, by the way. And Spanos should not be taken to deny either that the self exists or that MPD exists. But if thinkers of Dennett's stature accept MPD as something which needs explaining in terms of psychological dynamics limited to the psyche of the abused rather than in terms of social constructs, the task of convincing therapists who treat MPD to accept Spanos' way of thinking is Herculean. How could it be possible that most MPD patients have been created in the therapist's laboratory, so to speak? How could it be possible that so many people, particularly female people [85% of MPD patients are female], could have so many false memories of childhood sexual abuse? How could so many people behave as if their bodies have been invaded by numerous entities or personalities, if they hadn't really been so invaded? How could so many people actually experience past lives under hypnosis, a standard procedure of some therapists who treat MPD? How could the defense mechanism explanation for MPD, in terms of repression of childhood sexual trauma and dissociation, not be correct? How could so many people be so wrong about so much? Spanos' answer makes it sound almost too easy for such a massive amount of self-deception and delusion to develop: it's happened before and we all know about it. Remember demonic possession? Most educated people today do not try to explain epilepsy, brain damage, genetic disorders, neurochemical imbalances, feverish hallucinations, or troublesome behavior by appealing to the idea of demonic possession. Yet, at one time, all of Europe and America would have accepted such an explanation. Furthermore, we had our experts--the priests and theologians--to tell us how to identify the possessed and how to exorcise the demons. An elaborate theological framework bolstered this worldview, and an elaborate set of social rituals and behaviors validated it on a continuous basis. In fact, every culture, no matter how primitive and pre-scientific, had a belief in some form of demonic possession. It had its shamans and witch doctors who performed rituals to rid the possessed of their demons. In their own sociocognitive contexts, such beliefs and behaviors were seen as obviously correct, and were constantly reinforced by traditional and customary social behaviors and expectations. Most educated people today believe that the behaviors of witches and other possessed persons--as well as the behaviors of their tormentors, exorcists, and executioners--were enactments of social roles. With the exception of religious fundamentalists (who still live in the world of demons, witches, and supernatural magic), educated people do not believe that in those days there really were witches, or that demons really did invade bodies, or that priests really did exorcise those demons by their ritualistic magic. Yet, for those who lived in the time of witches and demons, these beings were as real as anything else they experienced. In Spanos' view, what is true of the world of demons and exorcists is true of the psychological world filled with phenomena such as repression of childhood sexual trauma and its manifestation in such disorders as MPD. Spanos makes a very strong case for the claim that "patients learn to construe themselves as possessing multiple selves, learn to present themselves in terms of this construal, and learn to reorganize and elaborate on their personal biography so as to make it congruent with their understanding of what it means to be a multiple." Psychotherapists, according to Spanos, "play a particularly important part in the generation and maintenance of MPD." According to Spanos, most therapists never see a single case of MPD and some therapists report seeing hundreds of cases each year. It should be distressing to those trying to defend the integrity of psychotherapy that a patient's diagnosis depends upon the preconceptions of the therapist. However, an MPD patient typically has no memory of sexual abuse upon entering therapy. Only after the therapist encourages the patient do memories of sexual abuses emerge. Furthermore, the typical MPD patient does not begin manifesting "alters" until after treatment begins (Piper 1998). MPD therapists counter these charges by claiming that their methods are tried and true, which they know from experience, and those therapists who never treat MPD don't know what to look for.* Multiple selves exist, and have existed in other cultures, without being related to the notion of a mental disorder, as is the case today in North America. According to Spanos, "Multiple identities can develop in a wide variety of cultural contexts and serve numerous different social functions." Neither childhood sexual abuse nor mental disorder is a necessary condition for multiple personality to manifest itself. Multiple personalities are best understood as "rule-governed social constructions." They "are established, legitimated, maintained, and altered through social interaction." In a number of different historical and social contexts, people have learned to think of themselves as "possessing more than one identity or self, and can learn to behave as if they are first one identity and then a different identity." However, "people are unlikely to think of themselves in this way or to behave in this way unless their culture has provided models from whom the rules and characteristics of multiple identity enactments can be learned. Along with providing rules and models, the culture, through its socializing agents, must also provide legitimation for multiple self enactments." Again, Spanos is not saying that MPD does not exist, but that the standard model of (a) abuse, (b) withdrawal of original self, and then (c) emergence of alters, is not needed to explain MPD. Nor is the psychological baggage that goes with that model: repression, recovered memory of childhood sexual abuse, integration of alters in therapy. Nor are the standard diagnostic techniques: hypnosis, including past life regression, and Rorschach tests. |

| jikay | Points of view and implications of MPD / DID: MPD/DID is extremely controversial. As in the case of Recovered Memory Therapy (RMT) Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA), beliefs about destructive and mind control cults, abuse during UFO abductions, etc., almost all experts in the field are deeply polarized into two groups, which we call: "Skeptics: - those who believe that MPD is a psychological fad. It is either non-existent or phenomenally rare in nature. It is a disorder that has an iatrogenic cause; it is unknowingly created by the therapist-patient interaction. Thousands of victims have been generated by bad therapy. "Believers" - those who see MPD as a very serious public mental health problem affecting perhaps 1% of the population. These are further divided into: "Secular believers" Most are humanistic therapists and feminist counselors who believe that MPD is quite common, is caused by severe abuse during childhood, and can be resolved by re-integrating the alters into the dominant personality through therapy. Some believe that MPD occurs naturally, without any therapist involvement, and is unrelated to childhood abuse. "Religious believers" - typically some Roman Catholics, Fundamentalist and other Evangelical Christians who view MPD as a byproduct of demon possession that can only be cured through exorcism. As in so many other therapeutic controversies, it is imperative that we reach a consensus on MPD quickly in order to minimize continuing harm to the public: If MPD is an iatrogenic (therapist caused) disorder which does not naturally appear in society, then it is important that exorcisms and MPD therapy be discontinued, to avoid creating additional victims. If MPD is real, if alters exist, and if the disorder is caused by severe child abuse, then attempted exorcisms by religious believers could exacerbate the victims' suffering. Activities by skeptics could prevent victims from receiving proper therapy. If MPD is real, occurs naturally, is not a disorder, and is unrelated to childhood abuse, then it should be appreciated and studied; persons with MPD should be valued, not treated. If MPD is real and is caused by indwelling demonic spirits, then psychotherapy to integrate the alters could cause great harm. Attacks by skeptics could prevent victims from seeking release through exorcisms. |

| Katey | Is it true that these personalities also have names? Because I have and older sister who was diagnosed this disorder 2 years ago. We have met most of her personalities and they are very nice. Except one, it is a ticking time bomb and if my sister is very stressed out and angry that personality tends to come out and it takes a cardboard box and attacks it with a butter knife and always has the stereo blarring when it does so. What should or could we do to help calm this personality down?! | 12/14/2010 |

| Jordan | Um... I am having a problem with the perspective this article takes to MPD/DID. Talking to the alters and having them talk to the core (the "real" person) and in general treating them like individuals (rather than as a disorder) has shown to be much more helpful in the long run. They were "created" to protect the core and are often very important to the healing process (especially if they hold traumatic memories that the core is unaware of). tl;dr - They think of themselves as people, and giving them that little bit of respect is much more beneficial than anything else you can do. |

| Dr James Wakely | Psychosis and neurosis are different things. Although many psychotics can ALSO be neurotic (compare with physical illnesses, a person can have pneumonia AND a fracture) NOTHING can be "a psychotic (neurosis) disorder..." Neurosis is usually when you are basically sane, but have excess undue anxiety over things that wouldn't bother "normal" people. Psychosis is when you are insane, out of touch with reality (perhaps happily perhaps otherwise!) - seeing / hearing things that are not there. Convinced you are being controlled or that plots & conspiracies are all around you. (And you very probably cannot be convinced otherwise...) Whoever wrote that has not grasped a few basic psychiatric facts... | 11/22/2009 |
| heath | I have DID and am high functioning. There is NO medication for DID only medication for symptoms such as depression, anxiety. Rarely does it come out in childhood and almost never diagnosised as a child. It's not a psychosis but a dissociative disorder. People that have it know that they have it or that something is wrong we aren't just clueless about it. As far as loosing memory no maybe chicnks of time but not memory. All the memory is there it just sits with other parts and comes out when the person can handle it. Generally the alters will do whatever to protect the person or host and they don't run around all crazy. They generally hide unless provoked. I have friends that know i have this and have clue if an alter is out or not that is how well it is usually hidden. If the alters don't want anyone to know about them trust me they won't. I don't take any medication for this but i am in therapy. I have a degree, most people would be shocked to learn i have this. | 11/20/2009 |

| Anonumous | How is it that alot pf parents act this way towards their children? | 10/29/2009 |
| Me 2 | MPD can be caused in adulthood too. Most experts do not recognize that fact. Primarily it happens then from situations such as the very usual regression to child that happens when adult women are held captive and tortured. Police who respond first to women victims of such often remark the female victims are like little girls. This happens also to males held as sex slaves but less often. Once in the child-like state they can and do develope DID or MPD as it used to be called. The prognosis is very good for MPD developed late in life as the patient does have a sense of oneness to recognize when and if they integrate back to that state. It is the (usual) lack of experience with being just one identity that makes this disorder hard to overcome. | 10/28/2009 |

| DaniGirl | I had a friend with this problem. It started when he was 11 years old when he stabbed his dad about half a dozen times (fortunately he survived). He was misdiagnosed several times, first with bi polar then with schizophrenia. He's now 24 years old and its really difficult for him. He has 2 other personalities. The one called Sam is really dangerous and has almost killed people on several occasions. For some reason though he never attacks females. He's the sweetest guy ever. Sometimes he remembers what his other personalities did in his dreams. Its wierd i know. Unfortunately for the people he decides to attack, he is 6"4 and built like a rugby player and is extremely strong, and even more so when he changes into 'Sam'. It doesn't help that people are always tormenting him and trying to get him killed. It's good to know that there is actually some treatment for this disorder | 10/11/2009 |

Im not sure how to handle this. The alters say the more they come out the stronger they become. They dont come out while she is at work cause they dont want her to get in trouble and if she get locked up then so do they, They want to come out and have some fun. So they say. I mean i dont get all emotional or anything but i do have different handwriting styles, hairstyles, and i like different things at different times. and i was sexually abused as a child, so maybe i have it... ha, wouldnt that be a trip? ;-) | 5/18/2009 |
| Jessi F. | This article is... okay I guess. You claim people with such disorder aren't even aware of having it. Yes we are. Even though our minds may be in constant chaos, we do seem to have a neutral state of mind. I wish you would've touched more on treatments, too. But until then, this seems fairly accurate. |
5/4/2009 |
| britt | i think that this article is helpful and explains the symptoms and causes well. but not much about treatment. | 4/29/2009 |
| :) | Patients suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder loose memory in the form of major chunks. I dont actually think someone "looses" memory. Lose maybe? |

| nance | Sometimes I wonder if my sister has DID, but with just one alter personality. For years she has occassionally had binges of drinking, but when she does she becomes somnolent, pitiful, pracitically non-verbal and no visible reasons to go off on a binge...It is like night and day from the vibrant and assertive and wity person that she normally is | 4/16/2009 |
| colton Macduff | I have DID this is very hard to live with and have hurt myself over it. But that was when I was younger I think trying to conect with your ' other self (s)' as I call the alternate selfs is important an helps you deal with it all. | 4/14/2009 |
| Michael C. | its not funny, to make fun of people with MPD, i know people with this disease it may seem like fun to people who dont have it but to people who do have it.. it really isn't | 4/12/2009 |

| maggie l. | my experience with multiple personality disorder is that therapists want to believe it exists. doctors can do harm by forcing their beliefs on patients. i was told for years that i have this disorder and i believe it really caused me alot of harm. now that i left my doctor my life is alot better. people need to know both sides of the issue. | 12/6/2008 |

| YEAH!! | Thanks so much I had a project and this helped me so much | 4/28/2008 |
| -SID | I think you dont need all that treatment to overcome it... Because sometimes it leaves you for a long period of time even if something that normally would trigger it off doesnt. Bu then a series of months down the line it may happen. People can live with it. You dont not need to undergo such treatment. Its not always as bad as it states |
4/24/2008 |
| John | I have a split personality which was undercovered by the Church of Scientology and their stupid processing. Now the splinter group that uses the technology specifically Saxon-Hamilton refuses to audit me because the pussies are afraid of the other personality. Bunch of goddamn pussies!! Screw Saxon-Hamilton! |

| Andrea | The treatment I have been having is psychotherapy from a psyciatrist, NO DRUGS, that just numbs the body even more, people should stop giving drugs for every little things, just talk therapy, extensive at that, and the personalities will come out. I strongly suggest that if you see someone that suggest medicine, take the door as fast as possible, cause they have no clue what they are talking about, what you need is someone that you can trust, trust enough so that the personalities come out and tell their story, and start integrating. This takes time, for me its been 5 years and still going, but I can see the light at the end. Dont give up hope, find that right person to help you. | 3/9/2008 |
| andrea | I have multipersonality and i sure dont agree with alot of the things that you have writen, at least they arent my experiences. It is too long to explain things here, but i would suggest that you do more research on the subject with people that do have it, and remember, no one is alike, we all have our own individual experiences | 3/9/2008 |

| parekhnileshp | Hi Eden, People with such medical condition are just like children ... they don't really know what they are doing and how much it can harm them and people around them! They need special care and love! Just remember the days when you were a child and never knew what's good and what's bad for you ... but your mom had taken care of you and helped you grow young! Today ... whatever you are ... its all because of your mom ... so I would say its a payback time! You should be very careful about her ... take care of her health ... understand that she needs the same level of care which you needed when you were a toddler! Life is always beautiful when you understand that you just don't have to live life for yourself ... but for those who spent their lives for you!!! Hope this will help you! Nilesh Parekh |

| Mel | My friend has DID, he tells me that he has a personality split into four. It's wierd; he'll get angry at one of us and then be one hundred percent normal a minute later. I had my theories about him being bipolar, but he tells me he has "conversations" with them. Any ideas on how to help, aside from treatment with a pshycotherapist? He's deathly afraid of asking for that kind of help. | 2/6/2008 |
| christopher | a split personality disorder is when your mind falls apart from it self and you have no control over your actions the way you look at someone you may not like them and you may want to hurt them i have this disorder and i have had it a long time i was about 7 years old when i first went dark a jekyll and hide | 2/6/2008 |

| Jenny H | my boyfriend does and says strange things and a minute later has no clue to what he was saying or doing. He hears voices of both female and male, and he sometimes thinks he has out of body experiences, where he can see his own body laying on the coutch if that is where he is ect. And if he drinks alcohole he gets blank easily and his behavior is scary. He also blames me for things he does. He is a adrenalin junkie, he loves to take risks, and is very rebeliouse, what could this mean, bi polar or multiple personalities | 12/18/2007 |
| la bee | as a psychologist and a multiperson (someone with MPD) I can say, you summarize the topic fairly well. Every Multiperson is different and every multiperson funtions at a different level from doctors and lawyers to folks that have trouble making it from day to day because of their struggles. Dissociation is a healthy and natural coping technique for children to use when they are overwhelmed with childhood abuse (the most common cause). however, by the teenage years they should be giving it up for a more sopistocated technique, but they are sort of stuck with the dissociative pattern of coping. Multiple parts are formed on average by age 4. There is research to show that different parts can have different eye glass prescriptions, allergies, blood pressures, and illnesses like diabetes. I’ve known I was a Multiperson for 18 years and treared many Multipeople in my practice and no 2 Multipeople have been alike. My particular area of interest is the interface between multipeople and medicine. | 10/19/2007 |

| Shay | Since I was nine, I've had this "other me" who would get really aggressive when I got too sad or depressed. We refer to her ask "Dusk" and there are periods of time when she's really active and others when she's quiet. Could this be MPD? Because when I was nine I lost 3 grandparents and my parents got a divorce. I don't remember anything from my gramma's funeral or for at least a month afterwards. Then one day I woke up and called my friends and they refused to talk to me because I had been "the biggest jerk that they'd ever met. I had no recollection of talking to them since before my gramma's funeral. Could this be MPD? | 9/28/2007 |

| Lorena | It's weird how things may seem. Sometimes I feel like the Lorena everyone thinks I am, then in one hour, I'll be someone 3 years older than me, complete opposite (just like night and day). When I was younger I didn't understand why this was happening to me. Once I took a quiz saying "What personality disorder do you have", and it said DID. I didn't know what that was until I looked it up. The symptoms seem to match mine. This disorder though is very mysterious. Sometimes I DO remember what I did, other times, I don't. So can someone just explain to me more about this, because I refuse to seek medical help if I'm not sure if my symptoms match that much... | 8/28/2007 |

| Larry | I had a friend that was an atipical soccer mom, extreamly intelligant, and avery proper decent person to be envolved with both personally, and professionally. After about one year after meeting her, she told me that she was bi-sexual and a nymphomaniac, and that she and her husband were swingers. I could not believe that what she was telling me was true. Then about six months later I visited their home and they bid me to come in during a set up for an internet porn site. They invited me to watch the site and gave me free accsess to the site. She was raised in eastern KY by a self ordained preacher in abject poverty. Could her problem be MPD? She seems very happy with her situation. She insist on sending her 4 children to Catholic school. Can she be helped?? |

| Jacquelyn | MPD is not about "seeing" thing..it's about being seperate from your core self. If you see other people and talk back and forth to them..that is another disorder, and medication can help. Depression can also make you forget or lose time and if your depression carries on so long and hinders your memory medication can help that also..teenagers also have alot of changes going on because they are stressed and pressured and hormones are flying..MPD symptoms start at age 3 and continue on. The trauma usually has to occur before age 5 but most likely before age 3 for the child to spit off personalities..so teenagers..don't sweat you feelings..you may just be stressed so go and talk to someone you trust. | 8/8/2006 |
| Jacquelyn | If you want to read a book..read A Mind Of My Own by Chris Sizemore..she is the "Three Faces of Eve" if you know that movie and it's about her intergrating and becoming one personality. | 8/8/2006 |
| Jacquelyn | A good article..nothing negative. I'm a Multiple and I appreciate that. | 8/8/2006 |
| Rabbit | nice article. I've recently become very interested in the symptoms of MPD, and have been reading much about it. I've noticed that one of the most common things that runs through peoples mind's when they hear about the symptoms of MPD is that they fit most of the description. People need to be warned that MPD is a lot rarer than they think, and that not every person who shows even almost all the symtoms is MPD. Several students in my class have also been learning about this disease, and several of them have come forward to me to tell me that they believe that they might have it. More needs to be posted on the misdiagnosis of this disease, and not just the symptoms | 7/27/2006 |

| Hi Frank, I really think that you do not have this problem. Children at your age do feel that they are really stressed, but truly speaking its not going to turn into multiple personality disorder, BELIEVE ME! If you think that you are suffering from it, just consult your parents as they are nearest to you and may understand the situation and help you find out right solution. If you ask me for my advice ... I would just say that this disorder can be avoided if you stay happy, calm and have lots of friends. Behave properly with your parents and people you meet and you will see that you are a part of society and not someone who's sufferring from this disorder! Hope this helps! |

| Ron Goodrick | Hi, Very interesting comments on mpd. I know there's plenty of sceptical comment out there, but I've been living in a sort of psychotic environment so I'd like to throw a few observations into the ring for your comments. I'm wondering if there is any recogntion of less vigorous signs and symptoms than those mentioned and still be DID? After some 10 years of observing the behaviour of my (now ex) 2nd wife, in which she displayed a variety of inconsistent patterns. These behaviours weren't particularly overt, and it was only if there was some pressure happening that it became really obvious. Overall, it appeared that she lived in some world that was "almost" real, but never quite made it, like some sort of "fantasy" version of what the real world is like. I noticed that when the stress levels on her were up, I would see a child like fear response, then an aggressive persona or 2 would strike back. There would be claims of harrassment etc etc, and a very strong case of "victim mentality" would come to the fore. When things were okay, I still had the feeling that the person who was there was only an actress, and not doing a particularly good job of it, and likely to fold at the first sign of pressure. I have come to the conclusion that the primary person was still trapped in her childhood, with at least 2 "protectors" or "defenders", who may or may not have been entities from another realm, who were able to mimic her. They were certainly not in keeping with the "child", and were quite ugly forms. And, finally the actress to appear to be in the Here and now. The day to day inconsistent behaviour seems to be the best giveaway to some form of disorder. I sort of wondered how I came to be here, but on closer analysis, i realised that my first wife displayed the same inconsistent behaviour, as did my mother, who was definitely problem ridden. So presumably I was used to that warped environment, and subconsciencely replicated it. Mind you, I suspect that there may have been these other identities in my life too, but I have been doing a lot of dealing in the spiritual realm, and I know that Jesus has been removing them. Maybe that's why I can now see them in other people, when I couldn't see them before. Have you had any experience with this relatively low key manifestation? |

| "When Rabbit Howls" is another good book. It is a much more accurate read than "Sybil". aasha, what are you wanting to know? God Bless. |

| Holly | Wow this is incredible. I'm reading the book Sybil from back in the early 20's and i've become really interested in working with people that have this disorder. | 11/21/2004 |
| aasha | I think that you need to tell me more about this disorder | 11/16/2004 |
| Hi Joanne, DID takes some time to develop into full-fledged disorder which others can notice, but till that time the person may show symptoms such as: anxiety, unknown fear, missing a chunk of memory, a change in behavior: most of them are sudden changes (and also are momentary) etc. and they do vary from patient to patient. But the problem with all these symptoms is that, all the symptoms also represent some other mental diseases which are common-place, so even if you feel like it is very easy to tell if a person has developed DID, you might make a mistake in diagnosing it. If you feel like your daughter has developed DID, please do get her checked from a good doctor, there are possibilities that she is not suffering from DID but undergoing normal changes which we all undergo with aging. |

| joanne | why is this illness misdiagnosised? It sounds like it is very easy to tell if a person has DID. What are some of the early symptoms of this disorder? I think it may be possible my daughter has this. She cerntainly has something. | 10/7/2004 |
