Space Probes Feel Cosmic Tug of Bizarre Forces

As the Pioneer 10 and 11 probes head towards distant stars, scientists have discovered that the craft - launched more than 30 years ago - appear to be in the grip of a mysterious force that is holding them back as they sweep out of the solar system.

bailee this has nothing to do with the passage but do u think that when u blast into space u end up somewhere diffrent every time. in other words if u took a spaceship and marketed it somehow and video taped the blast-off. then after that u would do the same thing with another spaceship and blast it of in the very exsact same place. then u would go back to the first spaceship and wait for the second spaceship. then if u saw the second spaceship then u would be in the same place. i wouldn't put anyone on the ship because if u did see the ship it would most likely crash. just to make sure u r on the same track. it depends on when u blast off where u will endup. 1/28/2007
ukchernobyl@exc it makes sense, but needs more study. 2/24/2005
Daniel Jude I think this anamoly is simply other gravitational fields begining to affect the probes with enough intensity to alter the suns pull. The evidence is bountiful for the effects of gravity. I'm sure if Einstein were alive today he would say " my good friends, open your eyes and see. We get too caught up in the details, and with science, we can indulge. " 1/8/2005
syndie i dont get it 9/16/2004
Andrew Robertso It has been suggested that the slowing down of the probes might be due to unseen particles. The leaking fuel is only one explanation. Of course, any anomaly in our theory of gravitation is fascinating but what about these other possibilities? 9/14/2004
