Becoming Like God

In his continuing work to demystify and teach the ancient, esoteric texts of Kabbalah, Michael Berg suggests that the time is right for people to break free of "ego nature" and achieve total joy and immortality: in other words, to "become like God."

Keith I'm not sure I can say anything with certainty, since I can not safely say that I completely understand the belief system espoused here. However, based on what I think I do understand, I think I can say this...

Did not Satan tempt Eve with those very words, "You will be like God..."? It's an appeal to our inner vanity, the very thing the author says he's trying to free us from. It says that we do not need God for our salvation (i.e., Jesus did not need to die for us -- we have everything we need inside us already). We are already gods ourselves. Who needs a savior? This is also new age teaching, from what I understand of it. And it is dangerous. Very dangerous. It is satanic to the core, motivating you to turn away from the only One who can save you, and cause you to blindly walk right into Hell.

Folks, we are not gods in the making. But neither are we ants or prison inmates. We must realize the balance that is reality, accepting our weaknesses and need for Outside salvation, while at the same time being all that the one true God created us to be, with all the gifts and talents He gave each one of us.

Betty This is the REALITY, the only thing that actually makes sense to me. We must start from who we are, from understanding fuilly what it means to BE human and go from there. 10/4/2004
