Russia Chechnya Conflict

Russia has always said that its military campaign in Chechnya is part of what Moscow calls "an anti-terrorist operation", and that peaceful Chechen civilians have nothing to fear. The Chechen rebels on the contrary call their struggle as a "war of liberation". They say that Chechnya has never voluntarily joined Russia and has only ever been conquered by military force.

Aleksandr Kotov I think now is the time to reconsider Chechnya's worth. I feel that to many Russian soldiers are losing their lifes over this with no particular goal..anit-terrorist...hmph. i feel we brought them to that level of extreamisum. I think now we should allow there independence and let them fend for themselfs it might be a way for us to make money of them istead of wasted it fighting them. I think that by allowing them there freedom as a country we will stop using the funds our country needs on this war. We also will make money rebuilding the country we can have russian contractors come over and rebuild there cities and companies can establish themselfs there all in all benifiting us both and maybe in due time the two will learn to live together...but if that dosnt work im at the point of extreamisum to im about to hope that we just level there whole damn country 9/10/2004
