this article has helped me make a decent shopping list for a change, the only negative thing is it seems very basic advice, I am a 'hard gainer' as in I am genetically and naturally thin and its near impossible to gain weight. there is a lot of information I have on specifics that would help people with weight gain. e.g wholemeal bread instead of white, the same applies to pasta etc... simple additions of specifics could give people a better chance of success... keep up the good work! |

Ref: Your page: "How to Gain Weight" is recomended "Eat Late". Eating late can be dangerous forst people, and even deadly for some and should NOT be recommended. Medicals all recomend not eating at least 3 hours prior to goingto bed (reclining). Consuming food and then going to bed (reclining) causes Acid Reflux which can result in GERD, both of which can cause Barrett's Esophagus a pre-cancer condition. Cancer of the esohpagus is deadly. Millions of people hace Acid Reflux/GERD and are subject to developing Barrett's, and cancer simply due to poor diet and poor eating habits...lack of knowledge. Check it out.

So heres the deal. Im almost 14 and i weigh 74 pounds!! i totally dont know whats wrong. i eat all the time like a pig and dont work out AT ALL. so wouldnt that mean i would be fat. GOSH. it bugs me too. everyone at school always says, OMG your so skinny or your like a toothpick. i could just break you in half.

As a 13 yr old weighing only 103 lbs at 5'5". Its really depressing to always hear how skinny you are. I can fit my thumb and pinkie around my wrist and the touch on the other side with alot of room. My doctor told me to eat healthy and excersize but that dont make sense bcuz thats how people LOSE weight. I also constantly have a DR. PEPPER in my hand so maybe if i stop drinking so much caffein my metabolism will slow down. I'm very grateful to whoever took time to focus not on the fat ppl but on the people who dont weigh ENOUGH. 1 question, due to school, i dont have time for breakfast, let alone 5 meals a day. what can i substitute for that. a big dinner?? |

Thank you so much. I am 14 yrs. old and I weigh 103. People are always calling me "toothpick" but they really don't get how much it hurts. I eat ALL the time and I've asked my doctor about how to gain weight. She told me to eat healthy and excersize but I dont quite understand why I would GAIN weight from that. I eat alot of junk food, as in fats, sugars, and stuff like that. I'm also ALWAYS drinking a dr. pepper. But noone has ever told me that caffein speeds up your metabolism! I'm definately going to drink ALOT less caffein and I hope I can start gaining some weight! |

Medication that slow your metabolim arent that easily perscribed and arent that often. High protein diets will increase your weight, but you need to exercise and use strength training to tone that "protein" in healthy muscle. It dosent look to bad either. |

This advise is very dangerous. eating excess amounts of food could cause vital organs to stop working, and cause serious harm. To eat five meals a day is very difficult to acheive and not very cost effective. If you have any problems gaining weight you should visit your local doctor, who will be able to subscribe medication that slows your metabiliism down. This way you stay with the sam level of food intake. A incress in food intake could cause strech marks to appear.
