Decorating: Do-it-Yourself or Use an Interior Designer?

Martha Stewart, I'm not. But having just redecorated a couple of rooms in our home, I have a pretty good idea of what it can cost.

A Design PRO This man is absolutely WRONG about not being able to switch decorators, obviously does not know very much about how designers charge and doesn't even know all of the professional associations that credential designers -
misinformation is worse than no information - this guy ought to stick to what he knows about money and leave the design questions to the designers!		 3/17/2006
Jennifer I bought a new home in Nov 2004 due to a fire destroying everything we own. I tell you we spent $4900 on living room furniture alone. A sectional cosing $3500 from Lazyboy only lasted 6 months before the fabric frayed. This is not the only thing that has happened. American Traditions Bedroom suite costing around $10,000 wearing out. The stain is coming off and parts the the cabinets are breaking off. A dining room table (solid oak) costing around $2000 parts coming off and becoming unstable. New top end kitchen appliances breakin with in a year.. I have either had to replace or repair everything that I have purchased in the last year and a half that I have not been able to spend the extra money to make a house a home with those little touches. But let me say unless a decorator is going t o guarantee me that everything she/he purchases is better than the best forget it I will save the money and get what I want 2/5/2006

I was watching the Isaac Mizrahi show the other night and he's an awesome decorator! You can also check out his website to ask him decorating ideas/questions on what to find where...just look at HIS loft and you know there's someone you can trust!

beatric warne This guy has no idea what he is talking about - he doesnt know the difference between an interior designer and a decorator - his whole article is bout decorating - but then he refers you to interior designers organizations 0 why should oyu spend he mney for a interior designer if you only need a decorator?? 11/3/2005
