FvrdbyGod I happen to be one of the few persons in da hood that agree with Mr. Cosby. My only disagreement in his comments is about the way we name our children, if my mother named me Latiesha when I was born that makes me no less than Susan from the Suburbs. Me being a person who was born and raised in the suburbs, then ended up in da hood from lack of financial education, I am disturbed by what actually takes place on a daily basis. I hate that I go to work daily and the crackheads, dope dealers and lazy people stay at home all day and chill. I am disturbed at children outside playing on a school night until 10p. So yes, Mr Cosby brings up several good points, he is just voicing his opinions in the wrong place. Mr. Cosby I propose that you come down to the hood and offer hope to the hopeless because they simply may not know that there is more than what they have and where they live. 6/22/2006
big picture this is an awesome poem! uses a ebonic dialect to demonstrate how Bill Cosby, who spent most of his career avoiding Black issues in his television series, and at the same time was a pawn for the white capitolists throught their Jello Pudding Commercials, a purveyor of ebonics and black clothing styles through his Saturday morning cartoons, has had the gall to fuel the white power structures indifference towards the core issue of Black under-accomplishment - racism - well done! 5/11/2005
wht mom/2 teens Bill Cosby is pointing out a good issue, what is gained by all the black community has strived for for the past 100 years is going downhill. How can anyone respect crude slang . Now one will pause when referring to an African American friend to wonder which group they fall in. Bill Cosbys or some crude "MTV" representation which far too often is there.

ms ridiculous. it is a sad day when the black community embraces this tiype of language as what is black. our parents their parents and their parents before them fought a long and hard battle for us to be able to go to school...ANY school. For us to become doctors and lawyers, teachers and scientists. we need to stop blaming the 'white man' and do what Bill said - turn the mirrors around and look deep insede ourselves....do you think this is what your ancestors slaved for and then fought for? for you to destroy the english language and your kids in the process? 1/7/2005
Phillp As a black man EVERYTHING Bill Cosby has said IS THE TRUTH-DEAL WITH AND STRIVE FOR BETTERMENT OF YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY AND COMMINITY! (Any words here -and believe me I used as simple a vocabulary as possible-PLEASE look up in the dictionary-NO HARD FEELINGS!) 12/29/2004
JJ in ATL IT WAS NEED TO BE SAID AND BLACK PEOPLE NEED TO WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE WE HAVE NOT OVERCOME.

Blacks have become so comfortable that we are still blind ot the truth, we still are not equal.

fade up wit bs I understand where Mr. Cosby coming from, although I don't agree with everything he is saying. It seems at time when we make to the top in "Black America" we think everybody else has the same opportuinty that they had. Here's another example of us saying just what the white man want's us to say. 9/9/2004
Mitch I do not know to many of his generation that do not have similar feelings. He made points many of us feel everyday. Your shot back misses the point, gives him more merit, and does not add any counter points to a debate that is worlwide. 8/16/2004
disgusted Your a wise man for stating your points on the issue...........It's apparent that you are extremely intelligent and edumacated ......I think *your momma* would be proud 8/6/2004

Felicia Jones-J Again, that's the kind of thinking that Mr. Cosby was talking about. The "blame" is always toward someone else instead of the person whose pointing. We, black people, are always so ready to have our trigger finger ready to react, and not respond. Mr. Cosby didn't "make a switch", he made a "choice". A choice to make better his life and the life of the people he'd be responsible for, I believe that that family didn't just consist of his wife and children. I'd like to thank him for making a difference in mine. 7/22/2004
'The brotha' That is just what the man is talking about. It also has little to do with the fact that Mr. Cosby has money or clout, as it is written. He cares more than most, has given money to high school graduates for them to go to college and get that higher education he so much stresses about black youth needing. So, it's pure ignorance for anyone to sit there in their stupidity and say that the man doesn't really care. If he didn't care, he wouldn't say anything at all. He knows and cares where black folks have come from and seeing where we have come from, he's disappointed as I am by where it seems we are going now. We, as a people, a black nation, should be much better, further in society than we are.

This is the point. You've only confirmed this and "shown yo' ass" writing what you have.
