I am replying to some of the messages placed by a few women that are on this site. I have been doing The Abs Diet for a little over a week, and I feel like my stomach is getting a bit "poochy". At least, i definitely don't feel like it's getting any flatter. Could it be the fact that my body/metabolism just has to adjust to the fact that I'm eating more than I had been for months. If anyone has any answers, please respond. It is getting pretty discouraging |

First, everyone should throw away their scales or at least commit to weigh yourself 1-2 times a month. A more important indicator when you're incorporating weight lifting is measurements. I've been on the Abs Diet for about 6 weeks. I have lost about 8 inches (2 off my waist) and that probably equates to about 6 lbs. The reason you can't watch the scale is because you're building muscle which weighs more than fat. More muscle also revs up your metabolism which helps you lose the fat. I am female and have tried many, many programs. The Abs Diet is like other programs I have been on (which have worked when I followed them). The bottom line is something my husband says - find a program that will work for you so you will make it your lifestyle, not something you're "going on" and "going off". If you eat something or a meal that you weren't planning on eating, hey you've got to live your life - forget it and do better the next meal. Otherwise, you'll just fall into a pattern of "cheating" and probably walk away from the possibility of success. I don't agree the program is geared toward men. Yes, the book language is written for men, but follow the principles and you will see the results. But don't look for losing bunches of weight quickly (although perhaps you will) - look for solid, consistent results that will last as long as you incorporate the principles. I have a thyroid problem, so I have to constantly program myself that 1/2 to 1 lb. a week is a fantastic result. Throw away the scale, take your measurements (and don't measure yourself every day either!) and go for it. |

It has been almost a week since I started. It is hard fitting in 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. Some times I will skip a snack. I ususally have everything planned out for the day. But tomorrow will be one wee and I have lost 2 lbs.So I am happy with that so far, it can only get better. I am going to the gym 6 days a week and have cut out the alchol. Hopefully tomorrow I will have dropped another lb. I am going for 4 lbs a week! Good luck every one. |

I think this diet makes a lot of sense. My husband and I started it yesterday. We are trying to lose 15 pounds. I have the same concerns about the diet for women. I am lowering my portions compared to what's in the book, it seems logical that I should not have the same portions that he does. I also have a concern about the woman that was on the diet on Good Morning America. She just had a baby, and probably would've lost the wait anyway. How are the women doing?? |

I do enjoy the food and the smoothies. I'm abiding by the diet wholeheartly. Does anyone know if medication effects the way this diet reacts to the system? |

I have tried every diet and really had no time to read about another. I can't begin to tell you how glad I am that I did. This makes soooo much sense and has incredible health benefits to boot. If you are in doubt I would urge you to try it. It will change your life. |

Kathy what exactly did you find worthless and what questions did it answer for you? Found that to be a very vague statement about the book, not article. |

I think this was a worthwhile article and it pointed out answers to my aerobic/weight training questions. |

I read the book and I think this way of eating is great. I just wondered if this diet would work for women, because the author refers to men when he talks about the diet. |

Even though I'm still discouraged that my wt. has moved, I haven't stopped. I figure it's better than what I was doing(nothing). Does anyone have some concrete advice to getting this kick up so that my scales will show something? Thanks |

I have been on the diet for a week now and not seeing the results that my husband is seeing. I am beginning to think that the diet is geared towards men. I think I may be eating too much. No cheating going on. And have followed the exercise program to the letter. |

I just started The Abs Diet. I know it seems more geared to men, but i think it will still work. Fast resulst are not always the best, but what is going on with you all that are on the diet, weightloss, exercise etc. |

I've been on this diet now for 7 days and have not cheated at all. My weight has not moved! Is this the way it's suppose to be? I'm discouraged:( |

I have the story from Good Morning America. It has the list of power foods and the story on what it can do for you. I seen the show on Aug. 18 and seen the results and going to try it myself. If you want the story email me at lavenderlady19@hotmail.com I'll pass it on. |

Re: Adding beans Here's some quick ideas... Boil and shred chicken, add cannelini beans or navy beans, tomatos, and baby spinach, a light olive oil balsamic dressing with some spices. Chill. Make a black bean cold salad with corn, tomatos, onions, peppers. Add some olive oil cumin, chili powder and garlic (pinch of salt too). make a turkey chili with kidney beans! All low in calories and great tasting. |

My husband and i started this diet four weeks ago. I had already lost 25 pounds and just wanted something new to help melt off the layer of fat on my body that prevents me from looking cut. My husband has about 30 pounds to lose to be at a healthy weight. I've been eating right and exercising for 2 years. This diet is absolutely amazing. It's easy and is working very well for us. I've lost 3 pounds and he's lost 12 already! We both feel great and will eat this way for the rest of our lives!! |

I am interested in knowing how women are doing with the diet. Are you losing weight with the amount of food suggested or are you having to cut back on the amount? I very much like the exercise plan which follows very good principles. Judy |

I just started this last week and I feel terrific. I have lost all my cravings for chips/cheese and sugar. The smoothies are the best. I finally have found my "life" eating plan. Yeah!!!! |

my husband and I are on this diet starting this week. This seems to be for the most part a "man's" diet .How will a woman's body work with this diet? Will I be able to lose wight and tone up as quickly as the men they use as examples in the book? |

I am wondering how this works for women. I do not want to have huge muscles, how do you obtain the happy medium, enough weight lifting to burn fat but not too much so that I look bulky? |
