nb Michael is by far the best driver we have ever seen. He also inspires me with his dedication. He is definitely sombody I would admire always in whatever he does. 7/12/2005
Ken Damon Hill as a contender for the best ever driver? Thats got to be a typo. Damon wasnt anywhere close to being even the best driver in his own time. And he won his only title in a Williams car that was so dominant, that even rookie Villeneuve making his F-1 debut that year came in second in the overall standings. Hill was a fine driver but he wouldnt be able to contend for the title of "best ever" even with a hundred mile polestick.

Ive been watching Schumacher since 1993 and in my opinion, as dominant as he is today, thanks largely to a superb car, which he probably has the biggest hand in developing - I dont think these are his best years.

The reason he proved himself to be probably the greatest ever driver, are ironically, the years when he went without a title from 1996 - 1999. He drove like a god especially in 97 and 98 in a much more inferior car and that to me, is the reason why he is so very great. People who cry and complain today about his dominance, so easily forget that it was HIS genius, that made those title races in 97 and 98, so exciting. Without him, Villeneuve and Hakkinen wouldve romped away with the title in what was by far, the best car on track.

Schumacher has achieved what very few drivers, if any, have succeeded in doing - running a title down to the wire, in a car clearly inferior to that of his rivals. Im afraid neither Senna nor Prost nor Mansell nor even Fangio ever achieved that. They all won only in the undisputably best cars of their day, and didnt threaten when put in an inferior car.

For those who complain about Michael's ruthlessness and demanding No.1 status in Ferrari, they ought to watch Senna barging Prost off the track twice in decisive races, and how Fangio would often take over his team mates car mid-race when his broke down. Dont kid yourselves that Barrichello would ever threaten Schumacher. He doesnt even come second consistently and the scant number of poles he has notched up after coming to Ferrari in comparison to Michael stands testimony to how far he is behind the Red Baron. Nothing stand greater proof to that than last year's season when Rubens was virtually nowhere to be seen with a car package that wasnt all that dominant, while his great team mate won six times as many races as anyother driver.

Anshuman I think that Michael Schumacher is the greatest ever F1 driver and an undisputed one at that. People may have their own opinion, their own favorites but for me this man is above everything else. People say he is ruthless and aggresive, but is that a negative quality? Name any successful person from the past or present who is not.

Michael Schumacher's greatness lies not in his driving skills but his insatiable hunger for success. For a man who has achieved so much and has nothing left to prove to anybody in this world, the singleminded approach with which he still goes about in executing his job to perfection is something to be revered. He is the embodiment of all the bookish things that say anything about achieving success in life.

To say what would have happened if Ayrton Senna was alive is being imprudent. He might not have won any more F1's. Who knows? To do what Michael Schumacher has done and still doing requires much more than mere driving skills. Please don't belittle his performance by saying that he is driving a much improved car and ascribing his victory to it. Try giving his car to anybody else and then see if you can get any more Schumachers. A car is a piece of machine which has to be handled well. Schumacher understands a car better than anyone on this earth (and that includes the manufacturers).

People like him pass through this world once in a century or maybe once in a millenium. I am not a die-hard Michael Schumacher fan but I admire him as a human being more than as a driver. He is peerless.

I salute him for what he has achieved. Every successful person on this planet was and is controversial and that is because the ordinary mortals envy their success.

Let us not waste our time criticizing a man who has set new benchmarks for human success, one who has raised the bar of human achievements. Let us savour his success and try and learn from him.
