i think they're both great. personally, i think beyonce has the better voice. however, the maturity of her lyricism seems to appeal to a younger audience. i think she writes her lyrics according to what is hip for the times. there's nothing wrong with that except it lacks the originality of an artist. it makes her the same like the rest. she's definitely much prettier than alicia keys. i don't know why but, i get the impression that she uses too much sex, and of her image to market her music career lately. she's already talented with her voice by itself but, there's no need for that. that's why i liked her to begin with. with alicia keys, im rather impressed by her efforts for the SHORT time she's been in the industry. with only 2 albums out, she's already recieved nine grammies....I repeat 2 ALBUMS. look how long it has taken beyonce to obtain all those grammies with destiny's child and her solo album... although beyonce sings better than alicia, i honestly can tell you her voice doesn't provoke any emotion out of me. yea, her voice is pretty but, i truly don't feel anything from it. with alicia, BOY! does that girl have some soul! how can you not feel her soul in "fallin" and "if i aint got u"? an artist can only have that much soul when they've already had many encounters and experiences of pain, grief, and sadness at one point in their life, and KNOWS/embraces their oldies reallllly well. sorry, but i don't see no trace of that on beyonce. she seems to have had it made through a really good temporal upbringing. there's nothing wrong with that. she doesn't strike me as somebody who was as unfortunate as alicia's temporal upbringing in a one bedroom aptmt and all. i go for alicia because her music appeals to ALL ages not just a younger generation. her lyricism is intelligent, thought provoking, and influential for many people. i LOOOVE the fact that she doesn't solely rely on her looks nor sex to promote her music. for some reason, if i wanted to have a conversation with one of the two----it would be Alicia. She is one intelligent and articulate woman. Through many interviews I've seen her on TV, she carries herself very well for her age. I think she's way more mature than beyonce when it comes to musicianship. if alicia lost her voice the next day, homegirl has the TALENT to seek new artists, produce, write, direct, AND PLAYYYY any instrument she desires to continue her career. just love that chooses to use her intellect, talent, musicianship, integrity, and innovativeness for her success in the music industry. to me, that will always stand the test of time because those kind of qualities are what the back in the day artists used to have that we cant find today. if we do, its hard to recognize them with all this crap we have on the radio---- |
