Carl Melcher Carl Melcher went to Vietnam, but he's not running for President.

The Firebase was slightly higher than the surrounding peaks. Its trees and foliage had been scraped off, giving it the appearance of a reddish brown island in a sea of green. About twenty-five 105 howitzer artillery pieces were arranged around the perimeter, and I saw men carrying boxes full of rounds from a big pile over to one of them. Then the ground was rushing up at us as we came down, and the people down there turned away and covered their eyes as our chopper's blades whipped up a storm of dust. I hopped off with the others and ran behind a sandbag wall. The next bird landed before the wind from ours had died down and then they were both gone, the "thock-eh-ta" sound echoing off the hills as the dust cloud slowly drifted away.

Chris Tee If he did it was long after his heroic efforts were reported. By then anyone with a brain new we were being lied to by our president and the war was a big sham. Guys like Kerry went into it with the right intentions but the truth finally prevailed and heros like him felt used & cheated by their own government. It was a weird time in history but time revealed itself and sure enough the government couldnt any longer deny that they deceived us about the war. Young men & women died needlessly fighting for a president that was corrupt. 8/1/2004
Christine J. These smear campaigns must cease. There's no need for them to continue. The American people want candidates that challenge each others viewpoints, who share in honest debate, who act responsible by giving us hope that as a nation we have good leaders to rely on in these unsettling times of terrorism. We want to see these 2 grown men act the part of the leader of the free world instead of making us wonder if either of them have the true makings of president. They will be better respected if they act respectfully themselves. 8/1/2004
