To Shelley-OK, you should read the entire thing before you comment on it next time because it was originally written without 'under God' and it was later put in to distinguish the USA from Communist countries.
To Analleli, the point is that Atheists do not believe in a 'God' and considering that most schools make you say the Pledge then you should not have to say 'under God'. Why is it such a big deal to take it off? Separation of Church and State? Yet you feel the need to keep it in even when that absolutely does not separate Church and State. |

I think that it should not be changed. The PLedge was made for a reason and made the way it was. No one should have power to change it. That is so wrong that anyone would even begin to think that. People in the world just want something to fight over like always. I think this is the reason it was brought up in the first place. I am religious, but even if i wasnt, i would still think that it should not be changed. |

i don't think that the words Under God should be taken out because people act they don't have a choice just because you don't want to say those words the don't that is not any one else's problem if you don't happen to feel the same way. |

I believe that the concept of God is a good moral standard for the country to be based on. However having to pledge alligence to the country when it's supposed to be free and let you do what you want doesn't seem right. I don't believe it should be taken out but I do believe we should be able to choose wether or not we recite it or not. Some schools punish students for not reciting the pledge. That's what infuriates me about the school system and about the pledge. In Texas it's also mandatory to recite the Texas pledge along with a moment of silence. In school suspension and detention is punishment for non-compliance to recite the pledge I think we should be looking at the school systems and not at the pledge or praying, theat can wait. The future of America is on the line and the schools are digging our own grave. |

I believe Under God doesn't have to be the same God when it says that. It can be a hero, another God, or anything they desire. Therefore, Under God shouldn't be taken off! |
