Hebrew University (HU) zoology students in Israel are learning about pigeons. They are studying the birds' digestive and circulatory systems, examining their brains and skeletons.

Lise E I think that it is a really great idea not to use animals anymore for dissections and other experimentations, because we often have the impression that it is very painful for them, that they are tortured and that they die in dreadful conditions. In the other hand, I think animals are helpful enough in the field of research (for medicines and vaccines for example) , because they have almost the same constitution than human beings, and they can react to a given composition. 9/7/2008
Lilian Prado I think that with all the technology that we have today its easy to have a virtual pig or any other animal open up instead of a real animal. we we learn the same as if we dissected any animal, because we will be be able to do it as if it were real. Maybe it will be better because our hands won't get dirty. 2/5/2008

Laura G I often wondered why with our wonderful knowledge on computers , why those computer savey people could not develope a "frog or cat dissection simulator/ vertual reality" program for high schools and colleges ( for those not going into Vet school or becoming surg.) 9/28/2007
BETTY MARTIN I TRULY BELIEVE THAT BY HANDS-ON STUDENTS WILL LEARN MORE BY THEIR OWN AND IT WILL HELP THEM TO GET MORE EXPERIENCE BY PRACTICING BY THEIR OWN IN THE LABORATORY. MORE YOUR PRACTICE MORE YOU LEARN SO HANDS-ON IS THE BEST WAY FOR US THE STUDENTS TO MANAGE WHAT THEY WILL APROACH IN THE CLASS AND IN THEIR FUTURE JOB. BY GETTING THIS EXPERIENCE THEY WILL BE MORE PREPARE. SOMETHING VIRTUAL IS IS MORE LETARAL IT IS NOT THAT SPECIFIC OR TRUE AND STUDENTS CAN NOT PRACTICE BY THEIR OWN JUST SEEN AND THAT WON'T HELP MUCH LIKE HANDS-ON 8/30/2007
aly personally i hate having t dissect animals (etc.). i had to dissect a frog one year because no one else wanted to just do it on the computer..it was gross. frogs are my favorite animals so yeah i think all schools should have this as an option at least. 9/7/2006
