Praying with Power: The Rosary

How to enhance the power of the Rosary. The Rosary is a powerful prayer of intercession but very often it is rendered impotent by the lackadaisical, often meaningless manner in which it is said.

phionah i lyk it bse you have told us that Mother Mary is not God so in addition to the rosary we need to pray to God 3/10/2009
Barry F I think that before we pray the rosary we must first meditate on God for around ten minutes before praying. One must connect with God before praying ie lift up your consceience to God, this is much more powerful. If not then we are just muttering words. 6/28/2008
william you are right about the rosary. it is not an instrument to forget god and Mary. 11/17/2007
william i like that idea pray with power, you are right, no wonder Mary isn't listening, sorry. you should've tell me earlyer. 11/17/2007
Brian Ingram people seem unable just to be with God, to be with themselves, in quiet contemplation. Yes the Rosary is rushed now more often than not, Priests unfortunately are also to blame here. All of this is merely indicative of the decline we are seeing in peoples appreciation of the Spiritual. There is also a frightening number of our Priests who seem to lack any reverence or passion for the faith. Very, very sad, I feel it will be the laity that will have to force a re awakening of the richness of our faith. 7/6/2007
cowboy how sad that until now people still see it this way. We should know better, we should know that religion only distorts the innate goodness of man. The god that every religion in the world has is a god that is hungry for praise, very human, to human to be god 10/9/2006
william I think they need to repent more often. that's what I was thinking. 8/8/2006
michael daly jn i think this is a brillant description of the rosary but i think you should also include praying for our ladys intentions god bless 7/27/2006
Susan Your article is very well thought out and useful. However, I disagree with your notion that Mary doesn't listen. I don't believe Our Lady ignores us, even if our prayers become rushed and crappy. The prayers aren't very effective, but I still believe no prayer is wasted and she graciously hears them. Otherwise people will get scrupulous and wonder if their prayers are "good enough" --

Also, the rosary isn't an instrument to forget God, or replace God with Mary. The rosary and Mary lead us TO God.

God bless!
