k. hempfling i went to fayfa yesterday (24.11.2007) and i was shocked when i saw the living conditions of the animals there. its not just the pony with the sad eyes that has to live in a cramped congrete cell, there are several big dogs, a bear and even an ostrich or emu who have to endure the same abuse. the tiny cage of the huge ostrich struck me as especially cruel since those animals are used to run and roam in wide open areas. there is nothing but bare concrete floor in all of the cells. nothing else. since your article was first published 4 years ago nothing has been done to improve the living conditions of the animals. there are school classes visiting the "zoo" on almost a daily base. what are those kids being tought!? they will end up as ignorant and careless as their teachers and parents. i tried to find an animal rights group in jeddah in particular and ksa in general but haven't come up with anything yet. i doubt there are any. 11/24/2007
faisalsh Do we have any updated posts on the status of the project? Jeddah really needs a good awareness program. There are too many injured cats around. 12/31/2005

Trevor Wheeler Good to read the article by Sherry Morse regarding animal welfare in Saudi Arabia. Do you please have contact details for the people in the article, i.e. the Tahlia International Veterinary Clinic (Deborah Zahid) or Dr Abuzinada?? I am hoping to visit Saudi soon on behalf of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) and I would really appreicate contacts there. If you could e-mail me: trevorwheeler@wspa.org.uk I would be grateful. Thanks 11/5/2003

Abby Davis You need to have more information on what KINDS of animals live in Saudi Arabia. Like the unique ones, AND their names. Your sight needs to be more up to date and full of facts. I'm doing a report, and your site helps me with nothing. 11/4/2003
