I think a hunt is nessessary to help control the CURRENT bear population. Sterilization will take years to impact the population. And to rebut a comment made by one anti-hunter, there have been documented bear attacks on humans this year in New Jersey and also an attack in New York just over the New Jersey border in which a 5 month old baby was killed by a black that apparently mistook it for food. So bears can and will get aggressive if they are not controlled now. I am both a hunter and I like to view animals in the wild. I think it is a wonderful site to see a bear in the wild. But unfortunately we can not allow them to over run the state. With the expanding development that our state is seeing it is just a matter of time before there is a fatal bear attack in New Jersey. So before it is to late lets take action now and allow the bear hunt. |

i think that we should leave the black bears alone, they have as much right as we do living here. And if people have a problem with the black bears then that's there problem. They were here first it's part of nature for them being here. I live in Wayne so I really don't have any problems with bears but still I don't think that they should do it,it's not right! |

I a new here, but I live in the adirondack mountians. We have had our black beae population increase vastly over just this year alone due to animal control bringing the ' so called nuisence ' bears here from other parts. Over the past several years, I have not really witnessed much in the way of aggressiveness on the part of the black bear.. i love to watch them, and am familiar with many to the point i have given a few ' names' i admit to not only photogfaphing them, but also hunting them- the meat is quite good. I heve even spooked a mother off with 3 cubs so i could capture her babies on film, a little dogfood left on the ground after i was finished, was enough to help mama not mind the interuption.... less than 1/4 cup .~~~actually. they are very interesting animals. i believe wherever they are a nuisence, they can be relocated, safely. proper handling is a big factor. thanks for reading , see you soon, cindy |

I think sterilizing is a great way to take care of the bear problem. They are beautiful ceatures and we must all learn to live with them, because they were here first. I have lived in Vernon NJ for the past 6 yrs and have encountered many black bear and NEVER once have they shown any sign of aggression. It breaks my heart to know that they will have a bear hunt this dec. I guess I can only hope for a miracle to stop the hunt. |

black bears in Nj have not caused any serious harm to anyone yet people bearing arms certainly have. If we allow this hunt we will label ourselves a barbaric state giving in to the minority and the NRA which is what NJ is not about |
