Japanese Police Arrest Eco-Activists Filming Dolphin Roundup

Three members of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society have been arrested and are being held by police in Taiji, Japan, while documenting a dolphin roundup in the area with video and still cameras.

Moo I believe that the slaughter of dolphins and video documentation of the "round-ups" should be illegal all over the world. Dolphins are some of the smartest and calmest creatures and they deserve to be treated right like any other animal. Over 2,000 dolphins are killed every year by these round-ups. Nowadays these numbers have probably increased. Dolphins have saved our own lives and we repay them by killing them. Usually these animals have died from other causes but a good percent have died from these round-ups. There are many organizations that are trying to stop the slaughter of marine animals. 1/23/2009
angel if it is ok for some one to kill such smart marine animals then it is even better for the 3 of them to film it to show us what is being done to our wildlife 7/12/2006

N.Abela.London The photographs of mass massacre of these poor sea creatures horrified and devestated me!I want to know if hunting dolphins is forbidden by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species,how can Japan be a member of this convention?!!!! Does the government of Japan realise how much money can be poured into Taiji and other areas of Japan through tourism?!!!Do they realise how bad a publicity it is for their country to see these pictures?It's terrible that they have the nerve to arrest the photographers!The world deserves to know the truth!If those were children being massacred,the world would want to know,but what they don't realise is that those dolphins are like children,innocent,harmless and can't speak to fight for their own right of existence on this planet!Nobody wants to see these lovely creatures dying in pools of blood in agony and then packed into boxes on supermarket shelves!That's as bad as gorrila hand ashtrays!!! I really hope with the help of conservation organisations and other people who are as upset as I am, we can put a STOP to this horrific barbaric act ASAP before many more are killed! 10/31/2003
