Me And in the Wanzhou district, ALL dogs, regrdless of size, legality, or rabies history must be handed over by March 15 to be killed the next day. 3/9/2007
Tiny Rabies in China? Takes me back to the book Full Circle by Boyle. Huge pandemic caused by a rabies-like virus begins in central China. They didn't handle it very well in fiction, maybe they'll do better with the real thing. 11/12/2006
Tracey a no word can describe how horrible this is. 8/4/2006
Barb Brooks This is ridiculous!! How can a country like China that seems so intellligent go about this mass killing in such a barbaric and backward way. If you lose your humanity in such a way-then what is your value in any life. What's the point of your existence. If just to exist with no honor, compassion or justice. I've always admired the Chinese and their country-but not if it's this cold. 8/4/2006
Natalie L. These animals have (or deserve to have) their own rights and should not be made to suffer some horrific fates due to the irresponsible nature of the government. But it's really no shock coming from a country that skins animals alive for their fur. The next time a human virus is being spread I don't expect we'll stop the outbreak from spreading by going door to door and slitting people's throats. Sounds like such a brutal thing to say but for those who actually value animals lives or at least their right to die as humanely as possible, this recent scenario in animal cruelty is as brutal as it gets. 8/4/2006
Linda Dunn I'm not buying anything made in China ever again. This is a barbaric country that doesn't understand Human or Animal rights. If everyone in the US and Canada stopped buying products made in China - even for a month - maybe they'd get the message that this is not an acceptable solution. I thank God that I don't live there. I have two wonderful dogs - if anyone tried to club them to death, they'd have to club me first. And by the way: FREE TIBET!!! 8/2/2006
Simon it sounds like its the citizens fault for keeping dogs illegally, bypassing the governments monitoring controls and forcing them to cull all these animals in a way to protect the citizens from a contagious and deadly disease.

Its a shame that the animals are being put to death in such reportidly inhumain ways but as far as I can make out from the media, it is in an attempt to stop the disease spreading. it may be a little ott considering the number of recent human deaths from rabies but i support the governments actions based on the belief that they are doing so in the best interest of the population which they govern. if you can prove otherwise, then i will gladly re-evaluate my position on the subject.
