I think that's now a total of 13 Grammy's the Chick's have won in their career. And how many has that self-promoting chicken-hawk Toby Keith ever won? Zero, zip, zilch, nada. None!
On top of that, Natalie Maines was completely justified in the comments she made in March 2003. We should all be ashamed that Bush is our President. Those of you who refuse to see what he is doing to our country and the irreparable harm he has already done need to wake up before it's too late. |

TonyD/DebbieC: If you really believe in your ideas, you shouldn't need to create two names to voice them. You could have at least put a space between the first name and initial in one of the names to make it seem two different people were posting. Maybe the Dixie Chicks have had to cancel some of their large venue concerts, but they have also sold out many of them. Also, their latest album has sold 2 million copies, not up to their usual standards, but pretty darn good considering how many country stations won't play their music. Censorship is alive and well in George Bush's America.
Rhonda, you make a very good point about other artists speaking up against Bush. Pink, Bruce Springsteen, Ben Harper, Tom Petty, and a few others come to mind. The difference is that the Dixie Chicks are in a different genre. Many country music fans (a) do not appreciate hearing a woman express an opinion, and (b) are not as aware of world events as much of the remainder of the population. Maybe that's why Bush is still popular in the South, while just about everyone else in the rest of the country is seeing through his lies.
The irony is that Toby Keith reportedly has expressed concern that invading Iraq is a mistake. However, he knows that if he says so publicly, his fans will stop buying his records and coming to his concerts. That's the difference between DC and TK. The Dixie Chicks are women of conviction, while Toby Keith is a money-hungry opportunist. And all of his fans are going along with it like sheep. |
