I agree 100% with fan. Curt.. I can't believe you actually think Toby wrote that song just to make more money and make him look better! I can't believe you could go that low. But now I can. Toby wrote that song in memory of his father. He wrote that song to express his feelings on the war as well as many others feelings. He even called up Cledus T. because they are friends and said Hey, I wrote a song, what do you think? He wasn't even planning on releasing it as a single. Cledus said that he should. When he went over seas, all the soldiers told him that he should release it out. So, why don't you quit running down a patriotic American who is giving hop and motivation to our troops.
Sometimes you have to fight for freedom, even if we are fighting for someone else's freedom. We are actually helping out others. Tell me Curt, when did helping others be abad thing?

Curt, the CMA bestly represents the best in country music just as an election represents an official for a job. It is the audiences vote. Your sarcasm is over the edge and not funny. Toby didn't take advanatge of the situation, he just felt it was a good time to write a song when people were down and out and needed motivation of some sort. Do you believe Darryl Worley's song to be taking advantage as well? These people just want to relate a song to world experiences. It helps people gain a better sense of the situation and maybe take away some of the pain. Also there is no way of taking advantage of any situation through a song because nobody knows if the song will be a hit if it comes out.Well if the only way these barbarians can understand fredom is through us fighting, then we must. These people will not sit down and have tea with us and discuss peace. Also, we are not having a history lesson here scurt, we are simply talking anout the present war and artists beliefs towards that war.

The Dixie Chicks have won me over too. I was never fan either until the controversy started. Finally, someone in mainstream country who can think independently and doesn't just follow the narrow minded views of the country music industry! There is no other music industry in the world like country music in that regard. It's like a snotty country club who only allows members who think like they do. I agree with most of what you say Donald. You are right that Toby and Natalie have rights to their opinions. I lost some very close friends on September 11 and I am still angry about it. I think the only punishment for Bin Laden that is suitable is to tie him up and allow everyone who lost someone on that day to spit on him, kick him, or do whatever they feel is appropriate. I see both sides of this issue. I don't think there was anything wrong with Toby recording "The Angry American" because as an artist he expressed himself. I also don't think there was anything wrong with Natalie saying what she thought. She never spoke out against our country and it's important that we remember that. If we start persecuting (or praising) people for their political or religious belief, that makes us no better than those lunatics in Iran or Saudi Arabia or in the Taliban who made it illegal for anyone to have their own beliefs. Freedom of expression is one of the basic rights we have as Americans. |

The Good bye Earl song done tastlessly about murdering an abusive spouse was never condemed because this is the US of A. If you don't like what you are hearing, tune it out. I am a proud American and a Proud Okie!I live in Norman Ok. about 4 miles from Toby. He has stayed in Okla., has a beautiful home and family here. He is a king here and can come and go as he pleases. one more thing if you make 26k and up your in the top 50% according to the IRS stats I gave and if you make 55k and up your in the top 25% so to tell me the rich are the ones benefiting from the tax cut is just plane stupid!!! The top 1% makes 293k and up and also pay roughly 35% of all income taxes. So fan of fan rich is now defined as the top 25% and if you make more than 50k a year your the one that is footing the bill for the rest of the country. You cant possible tell me that this tax cut is only going to effect 2% of our population because according to my numbers 25% or more will feel the effects. They pay a 3.91% of all income taxes. So your telling me that a tax cut only benefits the top 2% of americans? That is horse just like that usless dribble you spilled claiming Slick Willie was responsible for our ggod economy when in fact it was more of Regans doing and Clinton just left it alone.
