Dog Fighting Made a Felony in West Virginia

West Virginia Governor Bob Wise recently signed into law a bill that makes conducting a dog fight a felony and attending such an event a misdemeanor.

Kate i thnk dog fightin is horrible! No body should ever force somethink that loves you into hurting its own kind! I love dogs so much and cant believe sombody would hurt a poor animal like these sick people are doing! Anyone who does this to dogs should be locked up in prison for the rest of their life! They are so sick! How would they like it if we made you fight until one was not able to fight anymore! 4/9/2008

BILL FORREN I DO NOT FEEL FIGHTING AN ANIMAL IS JUST CAUSE FOR A FELONY... I THINK THAT A FELONY CHARGE IS VERY SERIOUS. MANY OF OUR LAWS PROTECTING CHILDREN AND OUR FAMILIES ARE NOT A FELONY. sylvia6 This does not include chickens. Cockfighting is still a misdemeanor. Why? Because one of our delegates is an active member of the Gamefowl Association. Yes, not only that but at the time the law was passed he was president. He also is a breeder. He should be removed from office. Don C. Perdue is his name.
