ryan shokey if u do the lifetime map update for $89 dollars you don't have the cost for every map update on the garmin and it has free software update and voice update and tons of choices for vehicles and comes with lifetime traffic receiver i think the garmin nuvi 720t is the best it gives you lane assistence and you can have it go through your car radio 5/25/2011
Pete H Just bought and returned a TomTom XL2 with Western European mapping. Although 23 country maps were installed, when logging on to TomTom for the first time to receive the latest map update, the site informed me that my device had insufficient memory to accept the new Western European maps and that I would have to accept one of three European zones. However, the device has no external memory slot so the current map has to be deleted before another one can be installed from an external device such as a laptop. TomTom was unhelpful and seemed to think that this compromise was acceptable. Not to me it wasn't; the device did not meet the description under which it was sold, and had no capacity for subsequent updates.They seem to be selling devices that are effectively obsolescent when you buy them. My advice: go for something with an expandable memory such as an SD card slot. 1/22/2011
