America's biggest retailer, Wal-Mart, has dropped three bestselling lad magazines, Maxim, FHM and Stuff, because the words are too racy and the pictures too bawdy.

shona so called mens magazines should be banned altogether.what benefit are they but to provide for perverts. 6/28/2006
Helen I have been campaigning for lads mags to be covered in the uk- not banned, just covered and age restricted. I don't fel these should be available for kids to buy as they do not portray women or sex in a normal healthy way. The covers do offend many people and are not good role models for kids. They encourage men to see women as sex objects and the pictures and words are often very demeaning.. Regardless of whether fans of these mags agree with that and perhaps they enjoy the discomfort it causes those of us who believe in quality, freedom of choice should also include those who do NOT want to see this material- covering the magazine fronts allows them to still be available but is not "in the face" of those who find them offensive. Whilst I am quite happy that Wal-mart have withdrawn some mens titles, covering the fronts would have been sufficiant. 8/19/2005
