Caveman I'm confused, you state that the Extract was what was pulled from the market, but every article i have read, along with the FDA website stated in was the Ephedra alkaloids that where discontinued from being marketed in the US. That the extract is what is still on the market, but is not even effective and a scam. 5/16/2012
Will Looks like you have it backwards professor. The alkaloids are the more dangerous ones and as such, were banned in the us. Thus now you can only purchase the Extract. 11/21/2011
Karin I find it very confusing looking at the side effects and thinking, "Hmmm, those don't seem as bad as the FDA regulated prescription meds that they approve for human consumption." I see commercials for drugs that have a mile long list of severe severe side effects. Why aren't those banned? 3/4/2011
A Hahn This article is completely inaccurate. "Pseudo-ephedrine" is what is available OTC in most states (There are, I believe, 2, that you still have to have a RX in), not ephedrine. Also, ephedra extract is what is currently NOT banned by the FDA. Pure Ephedra is. I hope that people don't read this & think it's correct because it is backwards and, as far as the OTC part goes, 100% wrong. 11/9/2010
sherry The diet pill beelean xtreme is claiming to have ephedra extract in 25mg form. They are completly missleading people they are using citrus aurantium wich is bitter orange not ephedra extract. 10/21/2010
