jeff steve hodel does not know much about anything I have to agree with the person who said the book is hogwash. its all theories... I identified the person in one photo and have all my comparisons on her. I have already talked to the cold acse unit about her. I hope that this will get the wheels rolling in the right direction. 8/14/2009
Yozo I think its something the DA should look into. I mean that insenstive comment at the end that the Black Dahlia is a case not worth getting into again does insult to the victim.. So now what? Leave cold cases cold so killers could get away alive or dead? Someone needs to be charged for this crime. Dr Hodel may or may not be the killer but still someone has made a mockey of the LAPD by getting away with this crime for so long. It's about time it's solved. I know it's easier said than done but with some possibly new eividence shouldn't it warrant some inquiry? 9/12/2007
Sharon The book is almost full of hogwash. First of all, the two photos from which he bases the beginning of his "investigation" are not only NOT of Elizabeth Short, they are TWO different people altogether. The book is full of convoluted plots that he directs toward his own theory - as well as many contradictions. Even the two photos in his fathers album that he claims are of his first wife Kiyo years earlier are clearly also of two different women. Can't he recognize his own first wife's photo?? And why does he seem to be surprised that her photo is included, when he admits that during their marriage many years ago he claims to have found out from Kiyo herself (as well as his mother) that she and Dr. Hodel were somehow involved in the past. 8/1/2004
Kay Kelly I am still reading this book, my neighbor has already read it. We spend a lot of time discussing it and I know she agrees with this book. I am half way through it and I am already in agreement that George Hodel was the Black Dahlia killer. We have become so interested in this, that we are reading everything we can find on Beth Short and her murder. I read James Ellroy's "Black Dahlia" many years ago and plan to read it again soon. To Seve Hodel: You are a Great Man in your own right, I hope that getting through this book and sharing it with us has brought you peace of mind. God Bless You and Beth Short and her Family. 7/28/2004
B. Tate I also have just finished reading this fine book and in spite of the naysayers who want to believe otherwise, I think Steve Hodel has done a remarkably effective and unbiased job in connecting this and other similar murders in LA in 1947. It took a lot of guts to name his won father as the prime suspect, and the data presented seems to sure bear this out. Also, I grew up 4 blocks from the Norton Ave. lot where Short's body was found in Lemiert Park, so this book had special meaning and fascination for me. 7/11/2004

chris crozier having just finished reading this harrowing story about a detectives search into the dark past of his father i will say this: Mr Hodel has caught a lot of bad guys in his time, but this one tops them all. A great and personally brave peice of detective work, not to mention a moving work of non fiction. 11/11/2003
Janie Medeiros I finished reading, Steve Hodel's, story and concluding that Dr. George Hodel is strongly suspected based on the personal investigation that Det. Steve Hodel took upon to do. Reading his story helped me to better understand what more likely could have occurred that led to Elizabth Short vicious murder and how Dr. Hodel could be the serial killer. This book is one of the most thorough investigations I have read about this unsolved murder. Janie Medeiros 6/12/2003
