I personally think these kinds of laws are antiquated, outdated and discriminatory. It is no longer the Victorian era and what people do in their homes and especially their bedrooms, is their business and ONLY their business. Too many people, especially fundamentalist type Christians want to dictate to others on how they shoud live their lives and tell them what they can and cannot do in the privacy of their own homes or basically as simple free citizens of this country, regardless of what state it is. Or county or whatever. This sodomy law is stupid and does nothing but single out certain groups of people whom other people don't like because of their lifestyle which is of course absolutely none of the other groups business period. Those types of folks really need to learn to mind their own business. If they are obviously that unhappy with their own lives that they need to control and impose their will over others, then they need to join a club, learn basketweaving, crocheting or some other craft that can keep them busy while keeping their mouths shut at the same time. If they want to bitch and whine about other folks' lifestyles, they certainly have a right to do that, but they need to keep it to themselves and not go about trying to shove their beliefs down other people's throats. I have had this problem in my own family with my fathers brothers family who are fundamentalist Christians. They seem to think it is their mission in life to try to make my families beliefs equal to theirs, and personally I find their Christian beliefs to be a crock of crap and do not want my children exposed to one bit of it. What they do is their business and it needs to stay that way. Thankfully they have got the hint now, and we all get along just fine. The bible-thumping stays in their household now and is left at the door when they come to visit us. This is what needs to happen with these sodomy laws. They need to be struck from the books and state constitutions and thrown in the trash where they belong. Live and let live and mind your own business. The fact that two grown men were actually arrested and spent a night in jail because they were enjoying their love for each other in the privacy of their own home is absolutely disgraceful and the people involved ought to be ashamed of themselves and certainly need to do some growing up. The nosy neighbor who called in the false report just to cause trouble is the one who needed to be hauled in to jail and really in my opinion should have been made to stay there for a wee at least and then forced to apologize to the two men in front of the whole town or city and then made to do a month or so of community service. Equal rights need to apply to ALL USA citizens. None of this picking and choosing crap. I thought we learned our lesson about that in the 60's with de-segregation, but some folks are just not mentally able to move ahead with the times. Alright, I've had my rant. Thank you for listening and giving me a place to state my opinion. Isn't freedom a wonderful thing? |

Do you seriously believe gay people are inflicted with some mental illness? Holy Crap, now I have heard it all!!! Who the hell are you to judge anybody's lifestyle? Put down your Bible for 2 seconds and take a look around you, gay people are everywhere! They aren't going away, so you better get used to it. I'm not gay, but I wish I was just so I could piss you off more. |

lym, that AIDS thing is played out. every one knows that AIDS and be transfered even in heterosexual sex!!! let's assume that AIDS did in fact start among gays (maybe two guys were doing it and the virus just popped up), we can ban homosexuallity because of that! because we would have to ban srt8 sex for all the other STDs!!!!!! |

i don't see the big deal with letting gay people be free. what will happen if they are legally allowed the have sex and to get married? the world will come to a grinding hault? ha ha. i think it is ridiculus to try to ristict people's lives like that! the major oposition to gay rights is religiously based, and i do not think it's the government's responsibility to save people from the gates of hell. i think that we should fucus our energy on more inportant matters than peoples love life!!! |

The US Supreme court decision has absolutely nothing to do with religion! This was a civil action striking down laws that were unconstitutional. Do not attempt to force your interpretation of your religious views mixing them with a civil case!! |

You guys/galls need to let go of your bibles, and free your minds.
"...this used to be a Godly founded state but it has lost it's foundation ...Go help us all." --lym
God founded??? Oh you mean like separation of church and state.
America is more well known as Land of the free, Godly founded. And in america, land of the free. Let gays be Free in there homes.
"Homosexuality is immoral and it is an abomination to God." --lym
Ok, fine. How should this dictate law? Separation between church and state anyone? |

what we do behind closed doors is our business and if people are so worried about it they obviously have no life nor do they probably have a sex life because they are so ignorant and uncompassionate about others feelings |

Blueroguehog is an idiot, as is lym. not everyone in america believes in god and the bible isn't the same as the constitution. moron. and the APA? you're talking out of your ass. even if you're right, which you aren't, they still changed it. They should put you in a special home. |

Homosexuality is immoral and it is an abomination to God.Plus it is spreading death (AIDS).I don't understand why we are even considering overturning this law, this used to be a Godly founded state but it has lost it's foundation ...Go help us all. |

I don't understand this hate-based law - or how anyone, regardless of their sexual orientation, could support it.
They say "love it, or leave it". I say, that if you have the means, take their advice: leave it, and take your money with you. Give Texas a reason to focus on hating people like you.
The United States is large, and I'm sure every Texan affected by this law can find a better place to call home. One thing is for sure: With one life and a few dozen states, the odds are in your favor. |

It's all fine and well to support personal liberties... but homosexuality is a mental illness the APA changed it's stand becasue of political pressure, not becasue psychologist believed it was not.
Mentally ill people should have their rights limited when they are doing harm to themselves and others... just look at AIDS. |

who in the hell decided when, where and how i can have sex? i'm married to an incredible woman that i love with all my heart, but we still have extra-marital affairs with other couples. aka swinging. does that mean i can go to jail too. if my wife and i are involved in a sexual act, while being accomponied by another couple, does that give the police in texas the right to throw me in a cell. do u think it would matter that i'm in a wheelchair? (does that give u any questions of ur own?) if my wife is giving me oral pleasures, can the police arrest us? i thought this country was founded because of persecution, religious or otherwise. now i find that we've all become hippocrites due to the on going law makers love of re-election. i think the first person to ever say,"...instead of making new laws, i'm going to eliminate some of the older laws that persecute americans.", i will vote for whole-heartedly!! maybe i'm a dreamer? we all know what happens to dreamers in america...just ask dr. martin luther king. |
