zianda mgandela i know you said a good debate doesn't nesesarily have to be political but all the topicts that you have here are good for high school. im in college and i think we shoukd rether be focus on serious matters that affect every one instead of worring if new born babies remember their past life. Wondering In high schools in Michigan in the early 1980's, schools argued such topics arms sales to 3rd world countries. Euthanasia was discussed in regular English classes. Given that, topics such as school uniforms and reclycling seem tame and easy. How much research is necessary for high school debaters these days? Do high school students need to spend hours at public and college/university libraries doing research as was done in the '80's? How much of current Debate is based upon published information for support and arguments? Do current Debaters get most of their infomation from the Internet? The list of Topics for college students is more similar to what Michigan high school students were debating 25-30 years ago. 3/2/2011
