Melanie Hill I am below average height for a women i am 17 and have a twin sister we are not identical has i am 4'10 and my sister is 5'3.She is alot more outgoing than me whereas i tend to examine what is going on first.My sister was great at school she was always looking out for me if there was a problem.I was similar in height to my sister till we were 12 yrs old.I stopped growing at 4'10 but she carried on.Our friends were always mentioning it how she was taller.I was always called names by some girls.Boys used to tap me on the head has they walked past me.Our mum is 5'3 and dad is 5'6.I didnt click till i was 13 and noticed that i was the same height has my grandad growing up i always thought he was tall till then.He is a funny man and explains how it was hard for him growing up years ago.Our grandmother is 5'6 and he said on their wedding day he had to find the highest heels which in them days was 2 ins and our grandmother had to wear flats so the pics looked okay.I used to always wish i was the same has my sister i always felt that it wasnt right us being so different.I remember family members always saying that my sister was getting tall all the time it was annoying.Do they only short ones are me and grandad and 2 aunts that are both 5'0 and twins also.I do have 2 cousins that are 8 and 12 and so far both of them are shorter than me but i dont think it will be long till they do outgrow me.. 10/4/2011
tessa It is quite possible this is the height of chinese people has when i meet up with my friend she has chinese parents and her dad is 5'2 and her mum is 4'10.Apparently the male likes to be taller than his women.My friends is 4'8 and she is 20 her sister is 17 and 5'1 and her brother is 4'10 and 25. I am exactly the same height has my friend and same age.We were at the same schools together so grew up together.We always stood by each other we knew that we were shorter than alot of our class friends.It must have been when we were moving to high school i was 2 inches taller than Jess but during the summer holiday she caught up.We both thought that maybe we will grow abit more.All our school uniform had to be shortened has we were only standing at 4'6.We couldnt wear high shoes so always flats.We were asked to join the gymnastics club in high school has they were looking for short people.There was 10 of us that joined to try out all of us were under 5'0.There were 7 girls and 3 boys.Out of all of us there were 5 kept on including me and Jess.There was 1 boy and us 4 girls.It was a hard slog and very punishing to do. When we were in our last year we had a height measurement dont which i found abit embarrassing to do.We had to stand boys first and from short to tall their heights were measured and shouted out so people knew it many were laughed at.They ranged from 4'10 to 6'2.Then they had to do so from their ages youngest to oldest Mitchell was the second oldest and the shortest he was 4'10 and next to him was Grant he was 5'10.It was then our turn we all stood up and was checked i stood next to Jess has we were the same height So i decided to stand at the end.Our range was from 4'8 to 5'6.Then we had to so the younest to oldest i was 5th oldest so i was 5th in line next to me wither side i have Julie she was 5'5 and Samantha she was 5'3 i felt abit like piggy in the middle.They had a good 11 and 13 inches over me.Jess wasnt too bad she was ones of the younger ones she had Wendy who was 4'10 and Kristy 5'0.It just looked so wrong for me.Our end of school photo all the short ones are shoved in the front so we are seen.They did try to have us standing on chairs at the back but the picture was too silly.By the way my parents are 5'3 and 5'5.My 12 year old sister is 5'0 already and i expect her to grow a couple of inches where as my brother is 4'10 and 22 years old.I think there was a point when my brother thought i was going to catch up to him but he grew the extra height after i was 4'8 he got 2 inches then.That is what i have to say.. 10/4/2011

Simran I am an Indian girl, but my height is 5ft. 6.0'', above average as compared to other Indian women. However, I am North Indian, and we are usually tall. I think this may be a hereditary factor. Anyway, this was an interesting artice. Thanks so much! 1/1/2011
