June, 1942: Four Japanese carriers are sent to the bottom at the cost of one American at the Battle of Midway. The enemy onslaught has been blunted, but he still controls a vast Pacific Empire.

Bill Wilson To peggy your dads ship would be in the diary of american fighting ships but would be a large search. Ask dad what kind of ship maybe that can narrow search and see if he can remember ship number and may jog memory of ship name. Bill W 7/2/2008
Peggy I found this very interesting as my 97 y/o father who is still living was in this battle but I dont know which ship he was on. And in contrast to today, these men did not have cell phones or e-mail to communicate with their families back home. Sometimes it would 3 months for a letter to get back to American and many times several lines of the letters were blacked out by the censors no matter how careful the service men tried to be about where they were and what they were doing. 1/24/2008
