I am quite surprised that so many people think that the animals can be well-treated in an industry, especially when the only purpose it serves is fashion... Anybody who is not aware of the manner they treat animals and especially the way they are killed -in order to keep fur unharmed...They should at least think of the purpose for which they actually loose their freedom and life. |

I have done emmense research on this and in fact have found facts on this issue, these animals are skinned alive! You cannot sit there and say that you ethically treat these animals when you first skin them alive and wear their fur, and they die shortly after. You wear their death, are you aware of this? If you are going to kill an animal, atleast do it for your survival, not profitable exploitation. |

There is no such thing as an animal being treated well and then skinned. The bottom line is that they're skinned and in most cases still alive while doing so. I can't believe people and the workers can actually sit there and carve this still breathing animals. You must have no heart. |

First of all, i am an animal lover and have many myself and treat my animals with better respect than i do humans and when your wearing furs your not only wearing one of gods creations but its like your wearing a humans dead skin with a lot of hair! It is a horable thing what these people are doing! stop the abuse, stop the testing ,stop the slaughtering for the so called fur fashion? well if anyone belives different you need to open your eyes and see these poor animals (not creaters or a freaks of nature) need our help. Killing innocent animals just to make use out of it? I mean there are enough clothes out there that we shouldn't have to kill animals just to make rugs, coat, and so much more. What matters is how the animals are cared for, and how they are killed. Animals should be cared fore gently: no beatings or rough treatment. They should be killed as quickly and painlessly as possible without damaging the pelts, and be provided with clean water, good quality food, lots of space to move around in, and medical care as needed. Fur and leather are beautiful and renewable and there's nothing wrong with growing it, harvesting it from the wild or using it. If trappers and fur farmers would watch dog each other and insist that animals were treated humanely, it would help fight the animal rightists. |

Since I am writing my semester paper on the issue of "fur," reading these responses have me amused.
Just as anyone would assume, the shallow, cold-hearted people are the ones to agree with using fur as a luxury. Fur is amazing, it was meant to be that way in the first place. To always stay soft, and protect from the harsh winter months. In todays time, we do not NEED fur to be warm, we do not NEED to have it on our backs or hands. We WANT it. We WANT it because its beautiful, and its comfy, and luxurious.
But whats honestly the most disgusting part is the fact that these animals are BRUTALLY killed to get "just that much more of a coat."
Animals are equal to humans. Just because they can't talk, or do some of the things we do, doesnt mean they are not equal. They all have hearts, personalities, and brains. They have thoughts, dreams, and emotions, JUST LIKE we do.
Its wrong to BRUTALLY kill animals for their fur, because there is so many OTHER WAYS to kill an animal which has no part of brutality in it.
It's wrong, it's disgusting.

Their responsibility as "the most advanced and civilised species" is to preserve the world and its inhabitants, not use them and kill them. As for the "furs are good and useful" and "animals don't deserve rights" attitude, just say that to the baby seals that are butchered. |

I am staunchly opposed to animal "rights" and those who support it. As far as I am concerned, people who view humans and animals equally are anti human rights. Rights cannot be granted to something that is not evolved or civilized enough to understand the concept. If animals are deserving of rights, why not plants, as well? They too are living organisms, which could be construed as "abused." This ignorance and absurdity regarding animal "rights" needs to stop. It has gone too far and causes nothing but problems for humans, whom are the creators and recipients of rights. Animals are, and always will be, a renewable resource and commodity with unlimited uses to humans and society. The fur industry is just one example of useful animal resources. Not to metion the fact the industry creates jobs, revenue, income which all benefit the human race. |

Most people feel that there is no problem about wearing fur sourced from environmentally stable sources, but they would not wear it themselves. The minority who are extremely opposed to wearing fur, using animal products, animal testing etc. speak out loudly, and often violently against fur, etc. The animal rights activists tell people about the monstrosities which they believe happen in the fur industry, testing labs, etc., which are rarely researched or true. they tell stories of violence, suffering and pain, and yet the animal rights campaigners are violent; they destroy buildings and injure people. Animals lives are not equal to the value of human life. According to genesis, God gave us dominion over the animals, the power over the animals, thus the right to use them and their products for our purposes (clothing, food, tests, etc). |

Hmmmm......Minks kill chickens....chickens produce eggs...which are a large income producer for farmers. In some countries minks are trapped and killed to protect a lively hood because they are just as bad as sewer rats. So what if the fur of a killer is worn. The only kind of fur that I feel is okay to wear is rabbit fur, so long as the rabbits were killed for their meat (and ths the fur is just a byproduct--kind of like leather and cows). I have read that most rabbits (except Angora) are actually killed for their meats, and NOT their furs. So that is my stance on fur products. I fell that all other fur is inappropriate. |

Wearing animal fur is disguting! Just put yourself in the poor creatures place for a moment. How would you feel if you were caught/raised just for your skin??!!? Obviously disgusted and outraged right? Even endagered species such as the tiger are hunted for their fur not to mention some other parts. Some animals are brought up just for their fur and when they reach a certain age, off to the "house"they go. no more fur and you get a worthless dead animal without its fur. Think about it people.. |

I agree. Fur is not normal to wear. Nomatter how much fur farms and indutries tell the public that the animals are treated well, you have to be as dumb as a rock to believe them. The only ways they kill animals are inhumane and very painful. If you wear fur coats, who knows, they could be from the same type of dog or cat you own. |
