M. Vespasio RAID 1 is often faster than RAID 0. Linux and OSX have a smart RAID implementation which gains enormous boosts in performance because 2 files can be read at once. This is not the case for Windows, but it still does not lose performance as is implied in the article. 11/9/2010

Simply, RAID 0 is for performance of IO, and RAID 1 is for security of DATA.
