Science Fan First of all, colimation has to do with how tightly the the beam is to perfectly paralell sides of the beam, NOT with total power. The total power can be kept tight, or allowed to dispurse, or focused to a point (which then dispurses), but the total power remains 5mW, regardles the shape of the beam. Only the INTENSITY (mW per square centimeter) changes. Also, changing the shape of the green laser crystal itself is NOT what you want to do, as ruining that can make the green beam go away forever. You want to mess with the output lens, the LAST optical component in the optics track of the laser. This can change the colimation, but at least on my pointer it's already VERY well colimated.

To actuallally increase the power, find the small screwdriver set variable resistor and turn it to the brightest position (well ALMOST the brightest, as actual brightest is not current regulated and basically completely bypasses the current regulator connecting the battery to the laser diode, possibly damaging it).
