tatum Elan, good comment, but Batman beats Superman everytime, Prince does things in music. He is a true master of his craft. MJ was a showman, Prince is an artist. 12/9/2009
KEITH I SAW THE MOVIE LAST NITE..BELIVE MJ IS ALIVE..THEY MADE 1 MISTAKE AT THE END THERE STANDING AROUND HES THANKING THEM FOR WHAT..THERE WAS 2 WEEKS LEFT TO REHERSE..HE NEEDE THE MONEY..BELIVE ME HES STILL ALIVE.. 11/2/2009
PeekABoo Prince is a private person; probably said many prayers regarding Michael Jackson in the privacy of his own mind. I hope so. I love Prince and Michael Jackson. Michael will be in my heart always. It doesn't really matter to me who said or didn't say anything nice abt. Michael - alive or dead. He was a genious and glory be to God I hope he is resting in peace. 10/28/2009
Veronica Prince is already a piece of ____in my eyes now. It's been WAY TOO LONG for this snob to not say anything at all! What is the upscale __________waiting for?! 10/11/2009
Laurence Brown Unefurza.

What's wrong with you.
10/3/2009
Laurence Brown I been asking the same question since June 25th. 10/3/2009
PRINCE HELLO! 9/29/2009
ELIAS WELL I JUST WANT TO SAY THIS: THANK U PRINCE FOR YOUR NICE 60 ALBUMS INCLUDING: PURPLE RAIN, 1999, CONTROVERSY, THE SYMBOL, EXODUS, 3121, SIGN O THE TIMES, GRAFFITI BRIGE, NEW POWER SOUL... 9/29/2009
ELIAS THE OTHER DAY I CAME ACROSS THE "EXODUS" AL BUM BY PRINCE AND I REALIZED THAT HE IS A REAL GENIUS OF THIS TIME. MJ HAD GOOD ALBUMS BUT PRINCE... I DO NOT HOW TO DESCRIBE HIS MUSIC!... MAYBE: AMAZING! 9/29/2009
ELIAS I THINK PRINCE IS DOING WHAT HE KNOWS WHAT TO DO PERFECT: MUSIC!
MICHAEL JACKSON? I AM SORRY BUT HE IS DEATH NOW.
9/29/2009
Mike Here it is from Prince's old tour manager. Prince and Michael were friends. Prince ate dinner once with the family and even tried dating Latoya, she declined. Prince is mourning a friend, and knows that by publicly commenting that somehow this will draw attention away from the fact that his friend has passed and deserves all the tributes that fans and media will allow. He does not want to be a disruption. 9/24/2009
Tea I have been asking the very same question since the 25th of June. Where, oh where, has Prince gone? 9/15/2009
mercutio profound and well said 9/8/2009
John That was a great piece. Well said. One wonders what exactly Prince could say, but I can't help but wait for him to say it, and no-one seems to acknowlege that. 9/7/2009
Phat House Unifurza,if what you have suggested is true, and I hope it is,as secretive as MJ was about his buisiness, the family would not have known, save Katherine.Of course you know that particular secret will certainly be kept. Joe or one of his siblings would eventually write a tell all book years from now if they were privy, but MJ didnt trust them. 9/6/2009
Unefurza Oh,and one other thing, check the records. The family nor anyone else is accepting insurance money, knowing that this would be fraud and not a prank, but real prison time. 9/6/2009
Unefurza Michael Joe Jackson is'nt dead. Another of his attention grabbing stunts. Although I must admit it appears to seem quite convincing.I've always felt a bit of scepticism about closed casket funerals. It's quite amazing to think that just months after a reported untimely death ,the man is probably close to being out of debt,if not out.Not one new song,no grueling tour. The phony but legal marriage to Debbie to secure custody of their children.AND,to go from half a billion in debt to 5 or 6 billion on the plus side by years end,is nothing short of a brilliantly concieved masterful stroke of his genious.Enjoy your retirement Mike, you really did get the last hardy...LoL. P.s,I hope you come to our country to live, smile. 9/6/2009
Monte Most of you folks need to get on with own your lives and stop worrying about what Prince is or is not doing or saying. He doesn't owe you or anyone else a comment on anything. The fans & media started all the hype about this so called competition. Get a grip! 9/4/2009
Momo I've been totally wondering about the same thing... Its strange not to have seen any comments about Michael from Prince.. it almost seems that it would be a fitting homage to Michael if Prince came out and said a few words about his passing... from one genius to another... I know from recent articles that Prince might need some kind of hip replacement surgery so.. maybe he is feeling the pangs of mortality.. especially after Michaels passing. 9/3/2009
PrinceFan Prince will never publicly comment on MJ. To expect that he would means you have no understanding of his public persona. Although the write-up was good, you need to find peace in knowing 'the dead have buried the dead' and Prince is still very much alive (thank God!) 9/1/2009
liseylouwho I agree, but then again the 911 caller said a "gentleman" was not breathing, he never said it was Michael. Tons of inconsistencies are about, even on the tape of the memorial. He's still around I'm betting. 9/1/2009
Stacy Great comments. still have not heard from my boy, prince. it would be nice to hear his thoughts on michael's untimely death... if i missed it then i apologize. i love them both! 8/29/2009
Susan Mueni I was asking myself the same question. Then I googled "princes reaction to Michael Jackson's death" and got to here! Please Prince, I'm dying to hear what you really think... 8/28/2009
BuddaFist Does it matter what he says or doesn't say. I find it amazing that so many are wondering when Prince will comment when the majority of the masses always had something negative to say, especially when he first hit the music scene. I mean he wasn't man enough, he wasn't black enough, his music wasn't black enough, he is trying to be like Jimmie Hendrix, he is too explicit. Does it really matter? In the song "Bad" Michael sang "Your but is mine" when Chris Rock interviewed Prince about the so called beef between him and Michael. Prince said" I know he was talking about somebody's but, but I know he wasn't talking about mine". That is the only time I can recall that Prince spoke publicly about Michael. So the question which has to be asked is: If he didn't speak about Michael in life, why should he speak about him in death"? In true Prince fashion when Prince has something to say, he lets his music speak for him that is why he has the respect that he has as a Musician first and a musician always. The man is probably the only musician to earn an Oscar and a Grammy for a movie sountrack that he starred in. Michael was an entertainer first, musician last...RIP Michael... 8/25/2009
BuddaFist I have often wondered if Michael had lightened his skin and straightened his hair through the years because of Prince being lightskinned and having "good hair" 8/25/2009
Adeshola Adigun This article was well-written, and very descriptive! Well done! 8/24/2009
Kym Great article... I have albums from both artists. They were different but definitely divine in individual ways. They hailed from a time when the top 40 music was still good and written from the soul. I guess prince was clever... backing away from the craziness that never left MJ's life. I really dont care for information about plastic surgery or personal relationships, but I would like to know what music they humm to themselves on a stroll, who they look to for inspiration, what advise they would give to parents raising creative children. My 12 year old daughter loves old time motown and early MJ is our happy music staple. Around the world in a day is clever and paisley park is the land of my dreams. I would love to hear from our Prince too...

Peace.
8/18/2009
LovinEmBoth I agree with Natashia...I HAVE to hear from Prince...WHY? I dont know either! As for as the post by "MIrrrorman" you can not attribute GREATNESS to only record sales and selling out arenas! As my name reflects, I LOVE THEM BOTH, but they are the same, yet different. If you MUST equate their genius, then Prince is an all around, self sufficient artist over MJ. Keep it real. Prince self taught himself 16 instruments ! I was gonna throw my "two cents" in the mix on why they may have been feudin but I wont. Prince...please comment ? 8/16/2009
Mirrorman Throughout history,'KINGS' have always forbidden 'princes' to speak publicly about them, dead or alive.Oh, and rap this around your brains,MJ would never have been jealous of Prince, maybe the other way around. MJ was world renowned for many, many, years.Prince, regional and national, with some fans in London and a few other spots in Europe. It's reported that MJ has sold 750million albums,13# 1's on billboard,7 from one album.Prince has made way more albums than MJ and still his sales probably has'nt reached 100million.Prince ,Madonna, orany other artist can never be compared to MJ, case closed. 8/10/2009
Robin Prince never commented on his own son's death. He appears to be a very spiritual + positive, loving person, so I'm certain that Michael and the Jackson family are in his prayers. Rest in Peace Mr. Michael Joseph Jackson may God bless your soul and your family. 8/8/2009
Brett Cool article. Only quibble is "Soft and Wet" came out in '78 when I was heading into 8th grade. Off the Wall came out in '79 when I was heading into 9th grade 8/7/2009
alexander ReallnCA SHOULD PROBABLY HIT THE BRICKS..leave America. stop insulting the country. PRINCE/MJ are/were Americans, both avid readers. its a wonder you can read with all that hatred your spitting, and MJ was jealous oF Prince. go to rolling stone online, look up "Michael Jackson and Prince tour". Long live Prince! 8/5/2009
Wendy You are not the only one asking where Prince is, I have the same question. I know he was performing but alot of people have commented on Michael's death I was just wondering what Prince thought about the whole thing. I love them both and have seen them both perform, I would be devastated if we lost Prince too! 8/5/2009
Cee RealInCA...the comments in my article about MJ may have been ridiculous, that's why I used the word "REPORTEDLY" before even mentioning them.

I never claimed to be a MJ authority of any type. Even MJ made fun of the "ridiculous" comments in his "Leave Me Alone" video. And I certainly didn't mean to set off any Prince/MJ fans here. Again, I was simply making an out-loud pondering...

And thanks too for the YouTube info. I had not seen it either!
8/4/2009
Pritylegz RealInCA, I appreciate that youtube info on JB,Prince, and MJ on stage together in '83,had never seen it before. 8/3/2009
RealInCa One other thing I'd like to add...I recently saw a YouTube video where James Brown was in Concert...he had invited MJ up on stage. Michael whispered something to James Brown, and James Brown called Prince up to the stage to jam with them all too. Now if MJ was "Jealous" why would he even do that? I think there are a LOT of brainwashed, stupid people in America! That's a shame. If you don't know, you DON"T KNOW some of the comments on this site were ridiculous at best! Take some time out from "Blogging" and pick up a Newspaper or a BOOK! 8/2/2009
RealInCa First...Why is it important that Prince "comment"? This is the problem with America in the first place. The man is dead what good is a comment going to do in the greater scheme of things? Also the article that I just finished reading was full of inaccuracies. Michael did things sometimes not because he was weird but because he had reason to. For instance, the skin bleaching he had a skin disorder so he had to bleach his skin the lighter color to conceal the color he was turning white! Michael also said himself on one of the features he did, I forget exactly which one Barbara Walters, Oprah or 60 minutes..that he NEVER wanted to buy the elephant man's bones! It was something the Media made up and as lazy no time having, no reading Americans we took it to be gospel! No one hardly reads anymore to find out the WHOLE story! This is why most Newspaper companies are going broke! This is also why many people are misinformed by a system (Media) who can end a person's career because they know people won't bother to check their facts! I say STAY SILENT PRINCE because if he does say anything it might get twisted and turned into something it wasn't in the first place. The family commented that's really the only people we should be concerned about! 8/2/2009
AE I've been asking the same thing. 8/2/2009
Cee Thanks Christopher! Your mouth to God's ears! LOL 7/30/2009
Christopher LOL! IM sure your just getting better with time Cee! 7/29/2009
Cee Christopher, thanks again ever so much for the clarification here! I was very perplexed about the dialogue you shared. I know I'm getting old but I definitely didn't remember the conversation you posted! LOL

Unfortunately, I don't have control over the comments that are posted here. Buzzle-dot-com does. I am just really glad we worked out the misunderstanding!
7/29/2009
Christopher of course Cee, again my deepest apologies. If you want to delte the psost I made (except my original one) feel free...although they make for great readings, I would not feel slighted. 7/29/2009
Cee Thank you for the clarification Christopher! 7/29/2009
Christopher You are right, I got my BLOGS mixed up...the email excerpts are from the publisher of the BLOG on Soulculture. her name is Tolita. My sincerest apologies to the publisher/author of this BLOG/ARTICLE. she has remained professional and full of class and balance in her views. I regret any harm I may have caused. Again, the author of the article here in no way reflects the emails I referred to in my postings. 7/29/2009
Cee Christopher:
I am not sure who you have been communicating with about MJ, but it was not me. My only response to you was the one in this thread dated 7/17/2009. I do not have your e-mail address nor do you have mine.
7/29/2009
Cee Christopher:

7/29/2009
Christopher Dawn, I loved your comments...you really nailed int on the head...thanks so much for giving more reasons as to why Prince POSSIBLY has kept quiet. I posted my reasons, as u can read ...and I got emails from the author of this post..she was pished! I have a few of them, I can share them with whomever wants them...if u stop seeing posts from me, she probably has banned me...unbalanced and unfair journalism. 7/29/2009
Dawn If you look in the recent Rolling Stone article about Michael's last days, it's plain to see that he had some type of obsession with Prince. He sought out to "top" Prince's 21 concerts at the O2 Arena and seemed to be overly concerned about Prince. Prince, on the other hand, never seemed concerned with Michael. He defended him a bit when MJ was facing those child abuse allegations, but he sure didn't see MJ as any type of threat.

Seeing as it is being reported now that MJ's obsession with Prince is hitting the news now and lumping Prince into his story, why the heck would Prince want to add to that mess? Geez. I'd stay silent, too. I mean, WTH? It's all just so weird.

Prince should just keep quiet and continue to make his music after the dust settles. It's what he's always done and it's why he's stayed sane. Michael unfortunately became a megalomaniac, overly concerned with "record breaking" and "King of Pop" and not so much artistry or real music. I hope he found some measure of peace finally.
7/29/2009
Lisa I was glad to find this article; I have been wondering too. I always hated comparisons between them, as if we had to choose. Musically and as men, I felt they had very little in common. In the wake of Michael's death, I hope Prince will break with his history of 'cool and aloof', and say ANYTHING that shows he has a heart. Prince has always given us reason to be in awe, but I wish he would give us a reason to love him. 7/28/2009
christopher If you go to rolling stone online, look up MJ and Prince, you ll find that MJ threatened to buy up Prince's Music Publishing rights because Prince declined an offer to tour with MJ in 2007. Can you believe that? talk about shady...no wonder Prince has not commented on someone who dared to do such a thing, just like MJ did with Paul McCartney. I dont blame Prince one bit. 7/27/2009
no name ok i have a question for anyone, prince is prince michael, as in michael's son? and if that is who you are all talking about then does prince sing?. . . also i have also been wondering where is he? 7/27/2009
Maria Pritylegz... do you realy know youself? This was a filosophical question, and I don't' call you baby, ok? I don't juge, I'm just looking arround. Be happy! 7/27/2009
Pritylegz Who is he anyway? I'm assuming that ? is meant as a joke because if you really don't know who Prince is or of his numerous accomplishments in music "Maria",you're not even qualified to comment on this topic. Stick with Santana baby. 7/27/2009
Maria I guess there must be some mistake here, or... this is full of Prince's relatives as everybody claims to know what's on his mind...
"Prince thinks and acts this way", "I know how Prince reacts to stuff like this", "His religions doesn't allow", etc, etc.. tell me: Anyone here realy knows who Prince is? In real life, not in concert or by the press. I must confess I don't... and the fact is that he remains silent about MJ death. Fans or not, the fact is the fact: He said NOTHING about this. Nelson Mandela said, Obama said, but Prince didn't. Is he better then all the others? Who is he anyway?
7/26/2009
Pritylegz Quite frankly I can't see why any of PRINCE'S true fans would be surprised by his silence. Both Prince and MJ is/was somewhat shy and distrustful of the media. Personally I hope he does'nt feel that he has to comment .And if he did comment, being the mega/ultra star that he is,the media no doubt would distort, misconstrue, and just flat out lie about what he says to sell more print.Prince does'nt want to alienate his or MJ's fans with such nonsense.Yall know how we are, believe a pretty high percentage of everything we read. 7/26/2009
luv41another Well said Pritylegz ! ! ! 7/23/2009
luv41another I also am a really big fan of both Prince and MJ, I really think Prince would privately express his condolences to the family privately. It seems to fit his personality. I agree that it seems something feels out of place without a statement from him. Madonna, Prince and MJ to me are of the same caliber and Madonna did that awesome tribute at her London shows, I hope Prince says or does something publicly to complete the circle. The loss of MJ is so sad, the world seems like a different place without him...

LONG LIVE THE KING... We miss you Michael
7/23/2009
Elan. You're not the only one wondering. There will be many MJ tributes, but until Prince sings or say something, it won't be complete. If Michael was Superman, Prince is Batman. Considering that, we may never hear anything publicly from Prince. 7/22/2009
sebastian I've been asking the same question seeing as I'm a huge fan of both. I would like him (Prince) to at least acknowledge the brilliance of the fallen. Like it or not, they were each others greatest comp, 7/21/2009
Ondreaj I thought it was just me ,but i was wondering the same thing. it seems like Prince is going out of his way not to respond. But I still got Purple Rain on dvd tho. 7/20/2009
Pritylegz I must agree with you RB,this article/topic is quite impressive to me because of the mere fact that the writer tapped into what so many of us were thinking. I had never heard of Buzzle until I typed in this "Prince comments on MJ's death". Having no idea if he had commented or not, just was curious. To all of MJ's true fans, remember this concerning all the negativity about him,he is resting in peace.Noone can ever take advantage of him again, wronfully sue him,or hurt him.He truely brought a lot of joy to this world. We will always listen to his music and continue to love him until the day we die. 7/19/2009
RB This is a really impressive article. Thank you for writing it. 7/18/2009
Mirrorman Not a big deal that Prince has'nt publicly commented on MJ's death. Why call Prince out anyway, there are many big time stars that have'nt commented publicly. How about concentrating on the man/woman in the mirror for real.Stop having babies out of wedlock. Wedlock stop cheating and love and stay togeher til death do you part.Black on black crime let us stop killing each other over nonsense.Let's kick the drugs and dealers out of our schools and neighbor hoods.Stop enslaving yourselves to welfare and make a conscious effort to break away.HOPE IS NOTHING without you getting off of your couches and trying to make a change. And moms/dads stop buying your children one hundred and sixty dollar sneakers when something much cheaper is more appropriate.Last and most important, teach your children and yourselves to worship 'GOD' NOT CELEBRITIES. 7/17/2009
Cee Christopher, thank you for your comment but the personal attack was uncalled for and totally unwarranted. 7/17/2009
Pritylegz I'd be willing to bet anyone that Prince grieved right along with the rest of us upon hearing of Michaels death. Grieved may be a bit strong, but saddened momentarily for sure.I'll go a step further and say that Prince has some MJ albums/cds and vise/versa.If Prince has'nt called one of the Jacksons or the family to offer his condolences, I'd be very surprised. And please let's not make disparaging comments about MJ or Prince just because we prefer one over the other. Both artistic geniuses music will outlive them.Nevertheless,I will always love them both not just as artist ,but as being positive uplifting and inspiring black brothers that made/makes a difference in our world. 7/17/2009
Pritylegz Aside from the obvious sadness over Michaels death, that same night I found myself saddened by another thought and it was this.'Michael and Prince are my favorite entertainers and they never collaborated to my knowledge and now, never will. TWO OF THE VERY BEST EVER,not doing something together. A Prince/Michael album,to me ,would have outsold 'Thriller',or came close. Not only shameful that they did'nt,but being a huge fan of them both...'HURTFUL'. Wondering if anyone else feels this way. 7/17/2009
Christopher First of all, You need to research before you write an "article", Prince is steeped in the news, He just released a triple album that debuted #2 on the billboard charts...Just released a critically acclaimed fansite...He broke records at the 02 arena in London in 2007...where Michael was to perform...Prince did 21 nights. BROKE RECORDS! SOLD OUT! NO one has beat it yet. Not even Michael...Prince released a book, and a live cd, I mean honestly you don't come off looking very smart when you say "Where is Prince?" At the end of your article. Prince is a musician's musician. Real artists know who is truly the more gifted of the 2...Michael could dance incredibly well...Prince does waaay more. And Prince is no junkie...like Michael was. So you wanna know where Prince is? He is ALIVE. Prince is ALIVE! PRINCE WINS!...(DUH). 7/16/2009
Francine Scott god both were hot in the 80's... however, I did watch the Jackson -5 as a child in the 70's . had a crush on a cartoon and l8r on a red jacket, Prince got me sexy in a car w/ Purple Rain. MJ wins--FOR SENTIMENT. REASONS 7/16/2009
Francine Scott I still can't watch VH1 or music channels w/o shedding a tear. I know MJ and Prince shared a time together and both musical genuises. ..absolutely . I think maybe Prince is giving Michael his time and not taking up the spotlight and say something l8r. I love prince too. 7/16/2009
Francine Scott I was wondering about "prince" today after all the memorial, they were kinda competitors, artists and genuises. Perhaps P rince is at a loss? 7/16/2009
Maria Hello again.
I guess we are wondering about Prince's silencie on MJ death, not who was the best performer, not even about their relationship. As I said before, if it was the oposite situation, Prince death the press had of course questioned MJ about it... The all thing is very strange to say the least. We all know the names that had spoken about the subject, even President Obama.. so, why is Prince so silent? That's the real question.
As many other people in the planet, I wonder...
7/15/2009
ditakyah I'm glad i searched this topic. I was beginning to think I was the only one asking this question. I am a big fan of Michael and Prince, but especially Michael,-not taking anything away from Prince though ! Love him too! Anyway, i have always wondered what either of them ever thought of each other because it always seemed like they didn't acknowledge each other at all. I am curious to know what Prince's thoughts are, but I am not surprised at all that he hasn't made a public statement. He's always been the mysterious silent type. That's one of his hooks! But i guess someone should start asking the media and maybe they'll be able to get something out of him? Either way, it doesn't really matter. The world has lost the greatest entertainer of all time and nothing can bring him back. We're all just blessed to have experienced him in our lifetime and also to have his music and his legacy to live forever. Rest in peace Michael Jackson, I love you always! 7/14/2009
Vanessa This was a good read. I had google the question What was Prince comment about Michael, and I see none has been made. But the wrtitng here explains a lot about the two. Thank you 7/14/2009
nabbas Like so many others, I ask this question, hence my search and come across your article. Who really knows how these two regarded each other ? I think for sure MJ recognised Prince for his artistry. It was awesome to see MJ and Prince commemorate James Brown by following his moves 7/14/2009
tina Why should prince be obligated to comment on MJ?
Maybe he just wants to keep his thought on it to himself.
Is this not a free country all of a sudden.Let Prince be who he chooses to be. Mourn for for MJ , or not.. It's really not our business. wonder , but don't condem him him for not coming out.
7/14/2009
Mike Someone who is grieving may not like to come out publically. Maybe he is very emotional right now! I haven't heard anything about chris tucker either but I'm sure they are devestated. 7/13/2009
Naser I, being a massive fan of both have been asking the same question since Mike passed away, very strange. 7/11/2009
ndm Layoff P folks. MJ is gone - remember him and celebrate is music. Forget the he/she said or didn't say crap. It's about the music! 7/11/2009
Riece's pieces I had the same exact question... 7/10/2009
drighteous I can agree with some of what Shame says only they know how there relationship was think about the We are the World piece, it was asked of Prince to show but Prince gave a song instead "Tears of your eyes", then its said that Prince wanted to work with Janet but she declined, they both shared the spotlight both recluse at times but thrived onstage but in some cases Mike took the spotlight and twisted for more exposure where as folks thought he was off he only turned your attention on to him but Prince did not want the attention...at all! I thought strange though how he named his kid with Prince in his name and both had influences by Jehovah Witness teachings, but I am not sure if the child loss Prince suffered was around the time Mikes was born...I honestly feel they communicated in some way shape or form and a part of Prince is going to feel that loss they are contemporaries to each other...they tore the stage up 7/10/2009
Jamo I've wondered that exact thing. I am searching the web now for the answer. Not that it's any of my business but being that I grew up on both of them myself, loving my brothers the same. Unlike the silliness of todays rappers, it was a playful, battle/competition of sorts created by us the fans. They knew it and relished it in some ways. It was harmless fun all through the years and I don't believe either one of them had anything bad to say about each other. So the years stand to bare the question; Where's Prince? I can understand not speaking publicly during Michaels legal issues. Words may have been miscontrued, misquoted, lost in translation... but on his death I thought we would hear something. I guess that's just the fan in us wanting to keep a good thing good at this bad time. 7/10/2009
Maria I agree with Shame on You. This is a very good piece of writting about this subject. Many people wonder by now why is Prince so mum about his rival. But... I searched and I found this to share. Looking at Michael s atittude, comparing it with Pinces we can only conclude that man realy needed to be more star than Jackson. So he was insecure about himself. He made such an entrance, such a show off that... it was so poor.
Look for James Brown, Michael Jackson and Prince on stage, on YOUTUBE, make your own conclusions.
I guess Prince never surpassed this complex...
His silence says the rest of the story.

The comment on youtube was:

Michael Jackson entertains by singin and dancin, James brown talks, and prince...well, he just acts really weird in this video, lol. sorry the quality isnt that great but at lest u can see the vide...

Its a bit sad, yes it is...
7/9/2009
Cee Thank you all so much for your comments!

I, like "Shame On You" thought it would have been poignant to have Prince play the Human Nature piece that John Mayer did at the memorial. I understand if Prince's religious beliefs prohibit him from making a public statement on MJ's death, but come on! The man was a music icon - just like Prince - and worthy of at least a simple "he'll be missed."

I won't stop being a Prince fan, but I am certainly disappointed by his silence.
7/9/2009
dahvry wow, im so glad i found this article. i was thinking the exact thing--"why haven't Prince made a comment on the death of Michael Jackson?" 7/9/2009
Blestlyrical Fantastic article. Fine example of quality music journalism, not as common as one might expect these days. I am so glad to see others are as puzzled about this as I am. Hence my search and discovery of this piece. I thought there would be a lot of apologists for Prince but even his fans seem disappointed by his silence. I thought to give him the benefit of the doubt that he thought it crass to say anything after MJ's death if they weren't close in life but hey, it didn't stop Madonna! I agree that as two of the biggest stars of the 80s it would be appropriate for Prince to say something. Other contemporaries such as Stevie and Whitney have. I can only assume, as my mother has long suspected, Prince was always slightly resentful of MJ's success. Due to his immense ability to play several instruments and his own penchant for good dance steps, Prince possibly thought he was the more talented of the two and deserved more acclaim. Two very talented people with overlaps but also very different artists. As a friend said you can intellectualise Prince more, much like Stevie. Whilst MJ's prowess went beyond just the musical into the spectacle as well. He was also more representative of 'pop' in all its accessibility. Prince allegedly shunned MJ's attempts at collaboration on 'Bad'. Even though I was much more of a MJ fan when I was younger I have always respected Prince. I am disappointed about his reaction...but then if he doesn't want to say something 'nice', probably best he say nothing at all. 7/9/2009
Shame on you Only the two of them know their real relationship to each other. Out of respect Prince has chosen to stay away. It was Michael's time and not his. I did think it would have been great if Prince would have played the guitar piece that Mayer played but I don't think Michael would have wanted anything close to 'Purple Rain' at his ceremony. I'm curious too as to their relationship with each other but only they knew. 7/9/2009
Maria Well, it s sad... for Prince to be so quiet. This will have some impact among his fans. I am not a fan of none of them, but i am human, and is enough to feel someting and to write a few words about it.
Religion, work, etc at the moment are not valid excuses. If it was the other way, by this time the press had already questioned Michael about the sudden death of Prince and for sure he had spoken a few words on the subject, am I wrong?

Lotus I think the same..so agree... 7/9/2009
duece i agree with you. everyone seemed to release a statement about MJ's death, yet prince is rather mum on the subject. 7/9/2009
Kasie I am a huge fan of Prince. He is a unique individual and a genius. He is artistic and has continued his successful journey with his music. I also enjoyed Michael as an artist as well. They both had unique talents and showcased it in different ways. This was actually a question that I was or still am curious about. I wonder what Prince comments are. I think for most artist, they were shocked to learn of Michael's death and probably lost for words. 7/8/2009
Maria There is no religious excuse for his silence... everyone has something to say about the death of someone like M. Jackson. If one choses to stay away from it, other reazons must have. This was a bad decision... the future will show, the history will say much more. 7/8/2009
Sadiku I am deeply concerned by the silence of Prince on the death of the on the notoriously famous Michael Jackson. There was a note in the liner notes of one of Janets albums whereby she stated that he reluctantly gave his "blessings" to Janet starting, or "restarting" her career by going to Minneapolis and connect with the producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who were members of the Tyme whom Prince founded. In the notes Joe Jackson is quoted as saying, "... and you better not have her [Janet] sounding like "PRINCE." It is something strange about Prince's silence and it has traveled all the way into death. He is deathly silent on Michael's death. It is eerie to say the least. 7/8/2009
Maria If Prince speaks now about MJ its too late... he had shown he is not a gentleman. Shame on him... who is a child now? 7/8/2009
sheila I thought for sure we all would have heard from Prince by now...he and MJ were very popular in the early 80's and both phenomenly successful...I would have loved to hear some form of respect for the King of Pop but since Prince is being elusive, one can only hope he wrote a masterpiece in tribute to MJ...RIP 7/8/2009
Chantal W. I have loved Prince from day one. Actually more than I ever loved MJ. I need to hear from Prince...need to hear him pay his respects to Michael Jackson. I'm afraid that I will lose a bit of respect for my dear Prince if he chooses to remain silent. He should realize how large a part both he and MJ played in many peoples' lives and that most who loved one loved the other. My mind is thinking he is being a jerk about this and it truly disappoints me. 7/8/2009
ASH I am a big fan of both. I understand the religous aspect, but there is the contribution to the music world he could comment on. Right? 7/8/2009
Moni You're not the only one wondering this. I wondered too, which is why I did a search and find your post. 7/7/2009
Prince FAN Prince is a Jehovah's Witness and they are forbidden to take part in anyone else's funerals if their religion is different from theirs. 7/7/2009
natashia WOW, my thoughts exactly!. I grew up on them both and remember everything you spoke of in this article. Despite the fact that Prince is quite private, I need to hear from him for some reason. I love them both and hold them both in such high regard. Maybe some words from him would help me deal with this. I don't know, but it would be soothing to know his thoughts at this time. 7/6/2009
Morris Day Prince is managing his career, selling his music online, recording new music and is now the ONLY genius left. MJ was a master of the stage, a master of the microphone, a master in the studio and from what little we really know about him a nice guy generally. Prince is going to have to look after us now. 7/6/2009
