My poem Whooopsie! was selected to be published because of its unique talent and artistic vision. And I was one of only 33 to have it recorded on CD and I got the Editor's Choice Award and an invitation to come to the symposium. This was the poem:

Interesting. I just got my letter in the mail and my poem, "Full Circle" was selected for "The Sound of Poetry" CD. (1 of 33, mind you, as was the other 66 people in this website) lol... I'm wondering if I'm being scammed as well. WOW! I hope not. Like Renae, that poem was written with the blood of my heart and the quill of my soul. *sigh* |

Get real" Although I have had several poems published in poetry.com and am thrilled if someone can actually find in out of the 5.1 million poem they say I am in competition with. CONTEST I believe is the selling point in Poetry.com's letters. I too would like to have a confirmed follow up on my works. I give freely from my heart while, like it or not they are making the big bucks off our work. "The boy" was also one of 33 selections on the 'sound of poetry' CD. I must write from my heart because I can't afford to buy the books, or CD's as being on disability doesn't make one rich. |

hey i sent in a poem to...i was one of the 33...i really hope it wasnt a scam cuz i was rly excited about it. wat i suggest, though, is that u go to the nearest bookstore and ask about the poetry book that poetry.com sed u were in. if they say they have it, check it out and buy it if ur in it. that way, u wont be wasting ur money if poetry.com IS a scam. |

MY poem "MY BIRTHDAY" was selected for the sound of poetry collection(if ever it exists). I got this letter from poetry.com on jan 1st 2002 & found out that i had to say an OK for including my poem in CDs & cassetes, & send a reply before 3 weeks from the date the letter was posted. GUESS what date the letter had in it - 6,NOV 2001. Was it a deliberate ploy to sell their stuff... if so its a real cheap way of doing it, i hope someone takes action against them if its all really a scam |

I honestly thought I would not see the CD set I had ordered. In fact was going to turn them into the BBB if need be! Today I received my CD set, and I have to say it's not as bad as I had thought! I will be checking my mail for the book, but not holding my breath. Good luck to all who also ordered, and Congratulations to those who did make it on the CD set.

it seems to me that it is a scam which aligns with what i have heard about poetry.com recently. if the 'international library of poetry' prepared such a great collection, it would sell thousands of copies. congruent with this would be the act of poetry.com giving each of the 33 poets a copy of the cd rather than try to sell it to them. continuing, my poem 'entendre' (which is probably the worst piece i've even scrawled) was 'selected' to be included in 'the sound of poetry'. a year has passed and cdnow.com yields no results; furthermore, i cannot seem to find it mentioned on another music site. i do however see it mentioned on a lot of personal web pages - well over 33 of them. so it seems that your poetry may be horrid or splendid, but either way, poetry.com wants it on the collection. // |

I just found out about the sound of poetry on July 19 (roughly). My letter said July 8, and I have to send in an order form by the 29, and I lost my order form! Is there a place where I can print up another order form? Also, is this a scam? How many of us have been 'selected'? |

My poem "I'll Be There For You" has also been selected for the CD. I am not going to the convention in August. I too, wondered if the letter I received was a standard form letter in which everyone who entered had been mailed. I'm so glad I found this site with other poets who've been wondering also if this was a scam just to get us to order the book and/or the CD's. |

I am also one of the 33 poets choosen to put my poem in this CD. My poem, " A Rose ", was made when I was blinded by emotion and when they choose it, I was so excited. It's ALL A SCAM!!!!!! POETRY.COM IS THE MOTHER OF SCAM! If you don't believe me, just type in any random ordinary name on poetry.com Once you find a poem, on the bottom of the page says "Order book". Well, guess what? This person is SURE to have a "published poetry" bind in a book. Keep on randomly selecting poems, and there you'll find a link to buy it. I'm surprised that there is no warning of some sort to allow people to not make this mistake getting meddled with this ludicrous scam. Not just one scam, but MANY scams. I sure hope no one else purchases another book, CD, or "Anthology" from them. They not only take your poems that's from blood and emotions of yours but also plan to take YOUR money. It's a shame that this kind of business exsists. |

hey yall, my poem got on too. i've been searching the WWW for hours and i can't find where they have a list of poets or even where they are selling the CD. but, check this out, i went on the u.s. copyright office webpage, typed in sound of poetry in the "search records" page, and i actually found the cd listed! i was wondering if yall got the letters of permission too. why didn't they put the date on them? i hope i can use it on my college application. well, anyway, good luck. and if anyone finds where to buy the CD, or if it exists, or a list of poems/authors, please post it. thanks, good luck to everyone. |

... i wrote a very depressing melodramatic poem that all my friends absolutely abhorred and i sent it in to poetry.com and they actually put it on the cd (or so they say). it's actually untitled on the website but i think it's titled surrealty on the cd. look under nicole douglas on the website if you want. it starts "the days before me..." and tell me what you think. it came from my disturbed heart and no one understands what it truly means... congrats to all those who also made it on and keep following your inspirations-advice from a 17 year old |

I am simply glad that other people have been selected and spoke out so that people know this isn't a scam. As for age, I am 16 and I really don't think that age has anything to do with your being a good poet or not. All of that comes from your soul. There is something I don't understand about this whole poem stuff. Why do you all feel so full of yourself, just because you got a poem published? I understand the thrill in it all. But wake-up and take a look around you..There are alot of reasons for poetry, for example to help others feel the strong compassion. Alot of people can't put feelings together with words, and have them hold great meaning. I do believe you all should be proud of what you've done. You should also try to see the beauty in poetry too. Not just stars!!!!!!!!!!!! |
