Hank Hoeft Whoever wrote this obviously does not know what he or she is talking about. Lincloln, pure and simple, was urging the Northern public not to give up on fighting for victory in the Civil War -- there was a lot of war weariness in the North at this time, and Lincoln's reelection looked doubtful at that point. I cannot fathom where you got the stuff about stressing the harmony between the early settlers and the Native Americans. 5/6/2011
