Cookie Keep in mind the ratio and statistics here. Blacks comprise approximately 13% of the entire population. Let's say that 7% are black men.. the majority of America is still white.. so yes.. if more white youth were in jail than in school it WOULD be an epidemic! Im not diminishing the seriousness of black youth and prison, nor do I understand the full scope of it all. But making sweeping statments without statistics holds no water 4/19/2009
Monica Johnson It hurts me to the core of my being to see that there are more black
menin jail than in college. I have been in agony over the fate of the young black males in my own community. I feel like they are in danger and no-one seems to care. I feel hurt, angry, and helpless.

L-bOOGIE The breakdown of the american family has threatened AMERICA, itself as a whole. Our family units are continuously broken down further and further with each president. Bill Cosby and Charles Dobson were right. We need to start at home and re-evualuate what's important. The fact that it has also contributed greatly to Afican-American men and women than anyone else also speaks to our value system. There has also been a significant rise in the number of Black Women incarcerated, too. More women have to go out and work 40, 60, hours a week to support families, men are virtually non-existent, out with other families instead of taking care of their own. We continually fault the system, the white man, BIG-BROTHER, this and that. We need to stop making excuses for our behavior and work on fixing it. Be parents to your children, retain the American family, go to church, the synagogue, the mosque, whatever! Pray to fix what we have messed up. Get A.C.S and D.Y.F.U.S. out of our business. It's our responsibility. 8/22/2004
Ken. I think that it's messed up that more black men are in jail than in college. We as men must stand together and succeed in life and we can't do that if we are all in jail. 9/17/2003
