| Mr Abdul Muhid | Asalammu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah All praises and thanks are due to Allah, the Most Merciful, Most Compassionate and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon His Messenger Muhammad (saw). We at Muslim Prisoners have launched this new and innovative website to help us all write to Muslims in prison, free of charge. All you need to do is write a general letter to letters{at}muslimprisoners{dot}com, addressing the brothers and sisters in prison, showing your support, concern and willingness to help them and their families in their time of great stress and anxiety. You can also share with them any knowledge you may have gained about Islam to benefit them, insha Allah. | greelian | We ''absorb'' a lot of foreign cultures even today. A lot of people prefer speaking in English than in Tagalog. Not to mention there would often be at least one English word in a Tagalog sentence. Tinikling or other folk dances are mostly only used during performances. Breakdancing or some other western dance is more prevalent today. Then, can you still see people wearing bakya? Who else plays sungka or piko? Mostly you see basketball. What about the Rice Terraces? I hear most young generations there would prefer living in the city or working than planting rice. I know that American culture have influenced us, but that doesn't mean we should replace our own with them. Parang lahat inaangkin na natin eh.. I don't know if my ''arguments'' are real in the provinces, but this is what I see in Metro Manila, so I don't have the whole picture. |

| greelian | Muslim culture represents the unification of all the cultures influenced by common beliefs and practices. The guiding religious phenomena and cultural aspects bind its people historically. The religious practices and beliefs of Muslims are centered around the religion of Islam. The original Muslim literature is in Arabic, the prophet's language. Most of the literature is religious in nature. It comprises communication and documentation of the belief system from the Qur'an, Sirah and Hadith. Secular Muslim literature developed in the Umayyad empire. It was taken by the Arabs to distant lands and became part of a popular culture. In due course of time, Persian became one of the main languages of the civilization. In the sub-continent, syncretist poetry from the Sufis propagated the foundations of Muslim culture. | 3/14/2011 |

| harvie | Islam beliefs and traditions are sourced from the teachings of the prophet Mohammed. The term Muslim means 'submission to God'. Islam is now recognized as the second-largest world religion. Muslims believe that the Quran is the outcome of dialogs between the God and prophet. The two popular sects in the religion are the Sias and the Sunnis. The latter believe that Mohammed is the restorer of the faith, promoted by previous prophets like Abraham and Jesus Christ. The Sunnis on the other hand, believe in the 'words' of the prophet; words that were spoken by him. This comprises his teachings and revelations. Islam propagates the five laws that are fundamental duties to unite Muslims in spirit. These are: | 3/14/2011 |
