NBA: Kobe vs. Shaq: who's been better for the Lakers?

I think Kobe bryant is better on the lakers because he's a good offensive player and nice deffense. Kobe Bryant is helping his team get to the finals. Shaq will be a good player but the lakers need a 3-pointer. All we need is kobe in the paint and out. |

I think it was a good decision for the Lakers to keep Kobe instead of Shaq. I really think that Kobe is better than Michael was in this time of age and I think Kobe could keep it up. YOu could see that when the Lakers won their second championship, you couldn't see the joy that they had when they got their first one. Their fire was off. Kobe also wanted to prove that he could lead his own team and he finally had the chance. Although Shaq is the most dominant player in the game that was every played, he is getting old. Now we just have to step aside and watch what that kid (Kobe) could do on the floor to make his words. |

I would never say that either player was better for the Lakers. They both dominate games in there own way. Shaq gave the Lakers a dominating inside presence on both sides of the floor without even trying. Making it easy for Kobe to give the Lakers high energy defense and clutch scoring to close out games (especially when Shaq wasn’t the best option). They are both great players but neither one is perfect. Shaq could have conditioned more to improve his defense and rebounding stats. As an individual player, Kobe has more skill than Jordan at his age. But if Jordan was in Kobe’s position, I’m guessing that he would have learned to use Shaq and the rest of the Lakers to make winning look easy like he did on the Bulls. If Kobe learns to do this, he will be just as great if not greater than Jordan. |

Shaq is definatly better than Kobe. Kobe does not play team ball. He drives down the court thinking he is the next Michael Jordan. Well, there is only one Michael Jordan and there will be nobody that is as good as MJ was. I will give it to Kobe that he is much quicker and maybe even better condioned than Shaq but if there was ever to be a true one-on-one game between Shaq and Kobe, the former Lakers veteran would definatly dominate the young Kobe. |
