I loved this story. It was well-written and it moved me. Oh, how I wish more fathers were like the Garbage Man. How difficult it must have been for Mitchell and how proud I would have been had he been my son! Well done! |

I thoroughly enjoyed this short story. A lot of good advice given by the dad and the patience of the dad to teach and not "explode" because of the suspension of school. Taking time with the son as he enters the "real world". I am in Toastmasters and I have to read a short story and this is the story I am going to read in honor of Black History Month and Martin Luther King. |

Absolutely excellent. Possibly the best short story I have ever read. Touching, profound and incredibly well written. I loved Mitchell and loved Dad even more. Was shocked at the end to see the authors name as BJ Thomas and not Mitchell Thomas. It was all so real. |
