Common Sense Romeo and Juliet was actually written to PARODY the type of relationship that the title characters had, not to be seen the way we see it now--as a symbol of timeless love. It's not that; if it was, R&J wouldn't have tried to kill each other in the end because they couldn't be together, nor would they have to sneak around in order to make things work. They wouldn't have made plans to marry the DAY AFTER they met, and Romeo wouldn't have BROKEN INTO JULIET'S HOME. (Sure, he was in the courtyard, but it's breaking and entering all the same.)

It's not love. It's just a couple of stupid teenagers who are infatuated with each other. There's a HUGE difference between love and infatuation.		 11/28/2011

Jacob Lolelea These classics of Romeo and Juliet are strong and appealing to emotions and can easily cause psychological pain to many whose love is just beyond any ordinary love relationship. I wish that the book be written in the modern English to suit the life of young men and women of today. In Africa we have made it a set book for our children when it should be read by everyone. We have not seen anything good from our children who have read this book Romeo and Juliet, how has the book impacted true love or any sacrifice of love for the sake of another in heterogeneous relationship, or this book has been taking one side of our emotional life...feelings and not the hearts, eyes and not the minds!
