Smarkis Elias Then why do say it was not posted? 9/20/2009
Smarkis Elias Delly is a big hypocrite and liar! He wants to alienate Assyrians from their ancestors and their own land - Betnahrain. He tried and is trying his filthy propaganda among the Assyrian People! He is the slave of Rome, the senders of Crusaders to Middle East to Annihilate Moslems and Assyians. Today's Chaldeans are working to occupy Bet-Nahrain for Crusaders'as a protectorate, and to divert proceeds from Kirkuk Oil Fields to VATICAN-THE TRUE CRUSADERS! So, MOSLEMS BE ON ALERT! The Cardinal was made just for that special purpose, "proceeds from Kirkuk Oil Fields! 9/20/2009
Raymond J. The Neo-Assyrian empire was composed of different people who where unified by one identity-Assyrian, one language-Aramaic.
Too this very day all Aramaic speaking people call themselves: 'Suryoyo/Suraya,' which is an abbreviation of the word 'Assurayu', which the west translates to 'Assyrian'.
We the Suryoyo people have never called ourselves 'Aramaean', that is a recent invention.
But we, since ancient times, have always called ourselves Assyrians.

Ashur Odisho Pretty good article, and not to be biast for being an Assyrian myself, but the ending was very poor. You presented us with some very accurate historical information (too accurate in fact) but you based your whole premise on what Mgr. Emmanuel Delly said? It is funny, because I would expect a little more from a scholar like you.

Did you know that Mgr. Emmanuel Delly has changed his position a million times? one day he is Assyrian, one day he is an Arab, and now he is an Aramean. Make no mistake, he will change his position again.

Arameans are not to be confused with Assyrians. The history is pretty clear. We have existed for thousands of years, and continue to.
