Barry There was a comedian who appeared on Ed Sullivan many times. I believe it was the late 50's/early60's. His act was just humming a tune (always the same one) and holding his hands behind his back and then bringing them out and displaying his fingers showing different numbers each time. wendy tanner i used to do stand-up comedy in canada, and i got some advise for the revolutionarymadmonk,this comedian i keep readind about,who only specialise in doing comedy on holiday cruise ships,on the sea,,,may i suggest that if he ever done comedy on land,he might be noticed,as only old folks,and the middle class,and wealthy,can afford to go on expensive cruise ship holidays,good luck anyway. 9/18/2010

Lawrence The best comedian of all time has to be Bill Hicks. He started out in america but the reason he is mainly an unknown in the states is that his material was too controversial to reach mainstream media before he died. He was not only shown but uncensored in the UK and he's still huge there even though he died in 1994. 4/13/2010

Ian Grant How could you possibly overlook Victor Borge? Not only one of the funniest but longest continuing comics -- and a fine pianist to boot.
(Which brings up Oscar Levant but you probably never heard of him.)
