| Vasan | Dear Maya, Some corrections: The word 'Hindustan' is never used by the inhabitants of what we now call India. It was a term coined by Muslims. The correct name for this land according to ancient texts is 'Bharata' ( 't' is pronounced as 'tha'). Even the word 'Hindu' is not from the languages of Bharata. It is a term that the Greeks used to describe people living along the river 'Sindhu'. The name for our religion is not Hinduism. It is simply called 'Sanathana Dharma' meaning 'Ancient Way of living'. the word Dharma can mean justice also. But in this context it means a way of life. |
