Rwamuhokya Robe I strongly believe that another major reason for deforestation is poor government policies characterized by corruption, greed, competition ignorance and most of all bad governance (human rights abuses). deforestation is at its peak in developing countries and being engineered by governments. if government policies are strengthened and plans for sustainability are put in place; providing the local communities with alternatives, encouraging afforestation, providing incentives for the most active, and implementing the laws that protect forests. 10/27/2010

Sadie Kashmira Lad, it's not really that easy. A lot of us know that deforestation is negative, but there are reasons why it started in the first place. There are good points, even though the bad do outweigh the good. Other than making space, deforestation creates jobs. Jobs for people to cut the trees and make the lumber into products and sell the products. Developing countries use their resources to save themselves, and a lot of their resources happens to be rainforests. The people there cannot be expected to play kamikaze and commit suicide. Which country are you from? Because it is all very well for you to sit in front of your computer and just type stuff like "I have often wondered why humans can’t really get a grip on their behavior to curb such activities." if deforestation doesn't affect you positively directly, but anyway, it does help you indirectly. But don't forget, I'm also saying that deforestation is bad. Don't get all offensive on me, because that's not why i typed this out. I'm just helping some people say what they want to say but can't because they do not have computers or even things like education or food. Think of those children in villages whose fathers work cutting trees. While they wait for daddy to come home, sure they'll say that deforestation is good. Sorry if i angered you or negatively affected you in anyway. I just want to get this point of view out. :) Peace 7/19/2010

rennycandradewi Deforestation happen in general places and overseas are very distinct. What have been written above is the deforestation happens in the major worlds. A large deforestation happens in the tropical forest country such as countries in Southeast asia, indonesia mainly. What happem in indonesia is deforestation caused by land openning for oil palm tree, and the surge of timber from neighbour country such as Malaysia and Singapore Thailand and else. 4/7/2010
